Rio had allowed herself to be Agatha’s punchbag for too long, taking the hits that her former love would throw at her whenever emotions had gotten too high. She didn’t mind it because she would have done anything for Agatha, she’d have taken her cruel words and told herself it was because she was hurting, that Agatha hadn’t ever known a healthy way to air her emotions. Only, there was only so much one person could take. And even Death herself had her limits and she was just about pushed to the brink. She hated that she was airing all these feelings now, but everything that had happened prior to Agatha’s death had completely broken her.

Was Agatha even listening to her? As always, it was turned back right around on Rio. Her upper lip twitched in anger, forcing herself to refrain from taking the bait that Agatha was dangling right in front of her. Before they would have gotten off on fighting, the making up after it had made it all the more fun. The anger that Rio had felt in this moment was different, it felt suffocating, that if she didn’t let it out she’d surely drown in it. She had chosen to ignore Agatha’s twisted sarcasm, they had that exact same argument for centuries. And still, it never was resolved, she had never even tried to listen to Rio’s side.

“Billy is not Nicky, Agatha.” Rio had hated that Agatha had gave Billy special treatment, as if he was of her own kin. “One way or another Billy Maximoff’s time will come, just like your own did.” The reminder had a bite to it. What came from Agatha’s ghostly mouth next had Rio swallowing hard, that anger that had taken over had turned to hurt in a snap of a finger. “No, not at first.” Her voice finally broke through the lump that had formed in her throat. This time, it was Rio’s eyes that fell shut. As if reliving the memory of when she had first realised there was a life inside her love’s belly. “I knew that something that came from me would not have been any ordinary child. I tried to find answers, that if such of a phenomenon had ever happened before, but there was nothing.” Sucking in a breath she didn’t need, it was a habit she had found helped ground her. “It wasn’t until he was almost entering this world did I feel it..” her eyelids squeezed shut harder, as if she was trying to will the image to stop from reforming in her minds eye. “I couldn’t heal him.” She hissed, that anger she had felt way back then resurfacing. “That sickness I couldn’t heal, no matter how many times I tried.” Her words choked out, it hurting to even speak them aloud. Eyes reopening, her gaze found its way back to Agatha’s. “I tried mi amor, I really really tried.” Her voice now broke into forced backed sobs, eyes filling with tears she hadn’t let fall for centuries. “I would have given myself to save our son.” A single tear began to fall down her cheek, slow and unbidden as the grief finally had its chance to take over. “I am the natural order of all things and still I couldn’t save him. I failed him..” her gaze fell to the ground, her words coming as an unsteady whisper. “I failed you.”

"Don't you think I know that?" Agatha was well aware that Billy wasn't her son, but that didn't mean she didn't care for him. As much as she hated to admit it, Agatha saw a lot of Nicky in the teenager. She felt drawn to him, a need to help and protect him, even if sometimes it backfired on her. She had a motherly instinct that, even after centuries, she couldn't shake off. "My time wouldn't have been yet if you would have just let the boy go," there it was again. Agatha putting the blame on Rio at any chance she got. Most of the time, the witch didn't even realise she was doing it. It had simply become second nature, a habit she wanted to break.

As Rio confessed she had no idea that Nicky would be ill when Agatha fell pregnant, the ghost let out a relieved sigh. She was sure that she couldn't ever forgive her ex if Rio had known from the beginning that no baby of theirs would stand a chance. They both had been just as shocked when Agatha became pregnant, something neither of them had heard of before. Sure, witches for centuries had cast spells to have children. But no one had ever conceived the way they had. Their love had been so strong and pure, that it created life.

Agatha had never seen Rio like this before. Human emotions wasn't exactly death's forte. They were both grieving over the same child, but instead of leaning on one another, Agatha chose to hate Rio. She was starting to regret the path she took, seeing Rio's emotions so raw and genuine. The witch had to remember they both lost a child, not just her.

Unlike Rio, no tears fell down Agatha's cheek. She was dead, ghosts didn't cry. But, Agatha quickly realised that the sensation of needing to cry never disappeared. She moved forward, closing the gap between them both with sympathy in her eyes. "Sometimes, boys die," Agatha muttered, now stood right in front of the green witch. "We both did everything we could for him, we couldn't protect him from everything. But, while we had him, he was so happy and so loved. I tried to give him the best life I could, while he had the chance to live it. She brought a hand up, hovering merely centimetres away from Rio's cheek, Agatha couldn't touch her. She craved the contact, wanting to bring comfort to the other woman that wasn't just an icy chill of her presence. "It's ironic. For years I wanted nothing to do with you, and now that I want to touch you I can't."

WHO : buffy summers x faith lehane

WHERE : the cemetery, sunnydale

SYNOPSIS : after spending the evening drinking and letting loose at the bronze, word has gotten out about a rouge of vampires in town. so, despite being drunk, both slayers are forced to go on patrol, hunting the vampires. without a vampire in sight, things start to get a little steamy between both buffy and faith

"I feel like if there were a group of biker vampires in town, we would have come across them by now, B." Faith twirled the wooden stake in between her fingers, the other gripped to the flashlight that led the way. "I think Giles just couldn't handle the fact that we were having a night off and so just told us about these vampires to get us out." While the chance of that were slim, Faith still wouldn't be shocked if it happened to be true. While Giles was a great watcher, he was way to overbearing for Faith's liking.

"What do you say, B?" Faith came to a halt, turning on her heels to face the blonde. "Shall we forget these non existent vamps and head back to the bronze? I'm sure if we hurry our drinks will still be on the table." While Faith had wanted to finish the drinks she had managed to con a guy into buying, Buffy had been insistent on leaving.

"Orrr," Faith inched a little closer towards the other woman. Throwing the stake in the air and catching it expertly. "We can hang out here and wait for some blood suckers to show up. Have you even fought one drunk before? It's really thrilling, it feels like you're high. Really gets the blood going."

Kate’s response was muttered, inaudible as she complained about how unrealistic such a fight would be. Who the hell would wanna fight a cute little puppy to begin with?! Oh yeah, Yelena the Russian cranky bear. “Uh no actually, you did not win our last fight! You just did a pretty cool fall out of a very high building, but technically you didn’t whip my ass.” Kate’s argument back was totally pointless at this point, it had been over a year. It wouldn’t change the matter at hand in the slightest, Yelena was a trained assassin, of course she’d whoop Kate’s butt into next week. Would that stop the archer from arguing her point? Not at all.

“So we are doing this then.” Cranking her head side to side as if preparing herself for the inevitable, Kate held her stance as a fist of fury now came flying body and all her way. She dodged the punch just in time, fingers grasping hard around the blondes wrist as she now twisted the others arm behind her. Kate’s front now pressing against Yelena’s back, her other hand took no time in holding down her attackers other arm. “Did you think I’ve spent the last year doing nothing?” Kate had gotten stronger, quicker not just reaction times but also her combat. “Becoming an Avenger has its perks, I get to train against people three times the size of you.” Yes Yelena had a lot more years of most definitely more gruelling and intense training in her corner, but Kate’s stubbornness wouldn’t let her backdown, even if the odds were against her.

Pushing Yelena from her hold, Kate’s jaw tightened as she kept a cautious stare on the other. “This is bigger than just another kill on your ledger Yelena.” Their shared target wasn’t just another goon, he was the only person that knew the identity of a threat so much worse, more dangerous.

“Let it go.”

"Huh," Yelena's head slightly tilted as she thought back to the last fight they had. "You are right, I did do a pretty cool fall out of the window. I guess this means I need to kick your ass now to prove my point." While Yelena was under no delusion that she could kill Kate, she at least knew the other woman wouldn't make it easy. Yelena was trained, meaning most people weren't competition and she liked a challenge.

The punch hadn't gone as expected, Yelena had been too cocky and over confident. The blonde didn't anticipate Kate actually progressing in her fighting skills. If Yelena hadn't been so pissed at the fact, she would have been impressed. With her arm bent behind herself in an awkward angle, Yelena let out a painful groan. "You get in with the cool kids and suddenly you think you're better than everyone else? Seems on brand with the Avengers." Yelena still held a bitterness towards the Avengers, never forgiving them for allowing Natasha to die. Kate joining their team seemed to make sense, it made fighting her easier.

Yelena fell forward once Kate let her go, quickly finding her footing with ease. The assassin's instincts kicked in as she grabbed for a gun off her body, drawing it up and point it directly for Kate's head within a second. Yelena held her breath, she didn't want to pull the trigger, but it wouldn't ever let anyone get in her way. "Move!" Yelena yelled with a quiver to her voice. Her fingers shifted on the gun, re-adjusting her grip as she hoped the threat would get the archer to back down, finally.

“I’m sorry Wands, but I don’t believe that for a second.” Natasha knew the signs all too well of someone that wasn’t okay, this wasn’t her first rodeo. The house she’d been hiding out in wasn’t fit for an animal, never mind a living being. Finding Wanda had proven difficult, Natasha had to pull far too many strings and now owed favors she’d spend the rest of her life repaying. That didn’t matter though, she had found Wanda alive and that’s all that mattered.

Lifting the black holdall that lay at her feet, Natasha dropped it on the old wooden table that separated the two. “I brought you some of your old belongings. Thought you’d maybe need some fresh clothing..” her words drawled, brow arching as her eyes did a playful sweep of Wanda’s far too oversized shirt. “Seems I thought right.” She concluded with a small grin.

Natasha was aware of what went down at Mount Wundagore, but none of that mattered right now. The Dark Hold was destroyed, its hold over the Scarlet witch was no more. In the widows eyes, Wanda was Wanda and she wouldn’t just give up on her, they were family and sadly, that family was getting far too small. Four of the Avengers were now gone, their memory was all Natasha had left. No, she wouldn’t lose another member, she couldn’t bare it.

She was walking around the table now, removing the barrier that had between them, sitting herself on the god awful couch Wanda had been sat upon. Nose scrunching up in disgust at the questionable stains that covered it, she really needed to get her out of this dump. “Come with me. I know of a place that’s safe, untraceable and well.. a hell of a lot more environmentally friendly.” A soft chuckle left her, hand now placing gently on Wanda’s knee. “Hey, I’m not taking no for an answer you know. You don’t ever have to be alone Wanda, not whilst there’s still breath in my lungs.” The squeeze to Wanda’s knee was gentle, a silent promise.

Wanda didn't expect Natasha to believe her. She knew her surroundings were giving her away easily. Especially after everything that had happened, it would have been more shocking if the redhead was of sound mind. If this had been the other way around, Wanda would have had the exact same scepticism. What the witch hadn't expected was the preparation that Natasha had put in to finding her. Revealing the black bag full of the things she had left behind after Vision's death.

"Thank you," it had been such a small gesture to most. Yet for Wanda, it felt like Natasha had done the most selfless act possible for the witch. People weren't exactly kind to her anymore, and she couldn't blame them. People were scared of her, cautious whenever in her presence. Wanda was consistently treated like a threat. Like an active bomb that could erupt at any second. If they weren't running from her, they were trying to use her. Natasha didn't. The other woman had always treated Wanda equally, like she was just another ordinary person and she appreciated it.

As Natasha sat next to her, talking about another place for her to hide at, Wanda fell hesitant. "I don't know, I-" She paused mid sentence, knowing she was merely coming up with excuses to stay. Wanda wanted to go, nobody would willingly choose to stay in a house like this. But she was scared of what would happen once her whereabouts was known. As far as she was aware, people thought she was dead and Wanda wanted to keep it that way.

The sudden hand on her knee caused Wanda to tense, green eyes glancing at their contact. She felt a giddiness erupt in the pit of stomach, one that felt illegal to be experiencing. She wanted to move her knee, but she didn't want to break the human contact she was craving. "Why are you being so nice to me, Natasha?" She spoke up with eye contact, a soft hint of her accent to her voice. "After everything I've done, why are you trying to help me?"

Rest had become something similar to a long lost friend, a comfort Peter rarely allowed himself to fall into. He was used to it by now, preferred it even because with rest came sleep and sleep? Well . . she was there. . . and Yondu. . his mom. Memories he'd rather forget pelting him with sorrow when he woke with a weighted reminder of that in-between space being the only place he had with them now. The silence felt potent, allowing for too many thoughts in an already busy mind when he reached over for the only thing that ever seemed to dull the inner dialog when it got this loud, a remedy of sorts - a melody. The space the walkman normally laid empty as his hand brushed over the side counter of his room. " dammit " he mumbled under his breath with frustration, realizing exactly where he had left it and with a heavy sign he pushed himself up and headed towards the communal area of the ship. As he approached, green hues locked over the familiar figure. Her hands rotating the device with what Peter hoped was curiosity, but before he had much of a chance at observing her actions his footing alerted her to his presents and with that a quick toss of his music player. " Sorry for what? - not your fault i got a thing for pushing the limits of sleep deprivation." He quipped lightly, humor always an easy tool to soothe an awkward situation. . which unfortunately was the reality between them these days. " I can show you how it works .. if you want." his hand motioning over to the discarded device.

Jokes were never a thing that Gamora understood. Where she came from nobody made these jokes that Peter seemed so fond of. They usually went over her head, or she took the sarcastic words literally. Since it was merely impossible for her to get back to her own timeline, Gamora was pretty much stuck with the group of outcasts. While none of them would have been her first choice, she was thankful for the hospitality and kindness they had shown her. But, there was always a sense of tension whenever she was around them. They walked on egg shells around her, always being on alert as to not refer to her as the old Gamora. She could sense their disappointment, especially Peter's. She would never be what they were so used to.

As Peter offered to show Gamora the small device, the woman hesitated for a moment. Staring blankly at the man as if trying to figure out if he was serious or not. Was this just another one of his 'jokes?' She didn't want to. She didn't want to let her guard down, she was a warrior and had to keep acting like it. But, Gamora was scared. Scared that she might enjoy it, and fall for the man just like her counterpart had. What if they were the exact same person, with the exact same fate? Was this what her life was supposed to be? Fawning over a human male and following him around the galaxy? "It's just noise, I don't understand it. Why do your kind like it so much?"
