the main change is rly to her village as a whole deciding to defy the dead yard tradition to bring her back. kendra was important to her people, the slayer being important to the world at large. her community believed deeply in kendra's importance as a slayer. the original spell had roots in west africa, making a jamaican slayer the perfect conduit.
