a graveyard is a graveyard is a graveyard. and this one smells a little too much like freshly turned dirt. it coats the inside of her mouth, makes its’ home beneath fingernails currently digging into the tacky shirt of some newly risen vamp. its’ hissing and batting, but the slayer remains true and soon enough a wooden stake finds its’ way into an undead heart.

the way in which season 2 tackles the innate struggle of balancing work, social, and home life for teenagers is so incredibly nuanced. the fight between buffy and her mom, the pressure from her friends to spend time socializing vs. studying, giles’ lectures about downtime being used to hone her skills and knowledge, all of these open up a larger conversation about what we expect from adolescents and how it’s usually something they are unable to healthily balance.
