☾✶⁺˳✧༚~Essek Cosplay Saga Pt. 1~☾✶⁺˳✧༚
So the Mighty Nein neurosis has finally caught up to me and I’ve caved and decided to start a cosplay. Specifically I want to make a super “blinged-out” Essek look. Think full embroidery, beading, iridescent fabric, jewels; the whole nine yards really.
However to get to the point of blinging an outfit to hell and back- one must have an outfit. So to begin designing an outfit I began to collect and stare at some of my favorite fanart and decided what I wanted (Think the wonderful renderings of ccattnipp, Zmeess, mortuary9)
After doing my research I began sketching out the layers of the outfit,
and then I had to go find what every thing was called so I could find patterns (I unfortunately do not have the name of every sleeve cut memorized yet).
Here's a rough skeleton of what the layers of the cosplay will be.
Unfortunately there’s not many FREE patterns available for printing (I really don’t want to spend $ on non fabric and bling). SO I began drafting, using mostly YouTube and previous experience
These videos were extremely helpful!
I started with sleeves, mostly because I have 0 experience drafting patterns for them, and I decided that now was the best time to fuck around before I go back to work @ my university.
Its not super clean of mathematically perfect, but the bishop sleeve is very forgiving lol.
I have successfully patterned and made a mock up for the underdress bishop sleeves,
I hoping that this is the most complicated sewing portion, since the rest of the outfit doesn’t have to be tight fitting. Possibly the mandarin collar for the topdress, but a collar is less fabric and will be covered by the mantle. ( the mantle WILL be the hardest part since i have never made cosplay armor, and least with the sleeves i've sewn before)
the entire saga of this cosplay will probably take a while based on budget and my work, ideally it will be ready by Oct 2027, since there is a local con I want to wear it to, but it’s not a hard deadline
