Hah! Although I don't know who will read this thoughts, I just wanna say Hi and hope you all are okay..
Anyway, I wanna tell 'you' my thoughts about my neighbor...
I just realised it yesterday when I was with her. She mentioned, 'Ya Allah' a lot between our conversation haha I do understand that she is definitely does not have islamic faith whatsoever but the fact the she said that word many times has caught my attention..
For a year past, I still remember she liked to diss people especially someone who does islamic practices and fashions. But now I am happy to tell you folks that she has changed from that past. She is more kind and friendly and she likes to share happy things around her, basically she is mostly in a good mood or happy situation.
I thought that it has something to do with my response and feedbacks that whenever she said something negative, I just replied it with positive response, but who knows anyway.
Yesterday, I met my colleagues to visit one of my friend who just delivered a cute baby girl. We spent sometimes chit-chat and tasted the trending food now: pisang nuggets (it tasted delishhhh, omg, but a bit too sweet). When we have our lunch at a korean restaurant named Jjang in Senopati, one of them asked me why my neighbor called me (they also found it weird that my neighbor called me on weekends).
I said to them that I have appointment with her that I will accompany her to pick her brother up at the airport tonight at around 11pm. And yes, I will be the one who drive the car.
They were a bit shocked. They thought that my neighbor asked me to do things around as her pleased. They were against that idea of my neighbor using me as her driver.
So, I ended up with telling them about my neighbor. I told them that she is different when it was just me, her, and a friend of mine around. We shared liked we have been friends for years. Sometimes when we have different opinions we just agreed to disagree. In general, I just maintain good relationship with my neighbor (I will tell you my neighbor in details when I have time haha).
But then, my colleagues still were not convinced about that idea of driving her around is a good idea (it takes 2-3 hours from here to the airport and back). So, I told them, "Let's count that as I am just doing sunnah to do good things to my neighbor, " and my colleagues gives no further comments about that although they were still disagree with my desicion.
That night, I was a bit tired from driving around and hanging out with my colleagues, but I managed to sleep for 1hour prior to pick my neighbor's brother at the airport. So, we were off to the airport at 9 pm and arrived at the airport at 10.30pm. On the way to the airport, we were stopping by at McD's in Joglo for a drive thru since it was Saturday night and it was a payday for most people (it was packed of people). It turned out that dinner was on her. I was glad and grateful with her treat. I thought I was doing it voluntarily and ikhlas because of practicing sunnah, but I was very happy that Allah gave me an instant rewards by doing so.
Back from picking up her brother was 2am in the morning. The flight was delayed so we had to wait a bit longer. She told me that tomorrow they planned to eat in Pantai Indah Kapuk area which I knew it very well that most of restaurants there serve non halal food. I was hesitant to accompany them, but I still said yes to them and when they said that they will go to halal restaurant, I was still not sure about going with them. So I prayed that some how they cancelled the plan or I will just pretend to be sick or something.
On the next day (today), my neighbor called me that they decided to eat in Gandaria City Mall instead of in PIK. I was thrilled and grateful that I did not not have to lie to them that I was feeling unwell. Then at night, I heard someone knocking on my door. I was lying at my bed then I decided to get up and opened the door. It was my neighbor. She was standing there with a bag full of chocolates and snacks for me. It was from her brother, she said.
I was happy to receive those sweet treats. I do believe this is not the end of story of me and my neighbor but one thing to remember:-
“Worship Allah and join none with Him in worship, and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor), the neighbour who is near of kin, the neighbour who is a stranger, the companion by your side...."
(Quran Surah An Nisa 4 : 36)
We never know about other people intentions, but we know one thing for sure, helping each other and never expect any profits in return will definitely bring you more happiness.
Sweet treats from my neighbor. Never expect that at all.. but alhamdulillah. May Allah bless us with his blessing and forgiveness..
