Tonight's storm vs a very similar one just about a year ago. Still just as stressed about exams as I was then. #3floorslower #somethingsneverchange #spottheangel (at Laurentian University - Université Laurentienne)
Well that's a wrap on my summer at #uppercanadavillage This summer has truly been an adventure and I could not have asked for better people spend the summer with. We had our ups and downs, but kept it on the tracks! #idroveatrain #villagelife #UCV #myjobsbetterthanyourjob (at Upper Canada Village, Ontario)
#eveofconfederation take 3 was once again wonderful!! Special shout out to the actors for making my cousin feels extra special even though she had a bummed foot. They made her experience of this theatre even better, going above and beyond. Having these guys in the village this summer has been wonderful! They will be missed. There's still a few tickets for the show this friday! #uppercanadavillage #bottletreeproductions #canada150 (at Upper Canada Village, Ontario)
I won't miss the work but I will miss the view! #2weeksandimout #onlyatlaurentian (at Laurentian University - Université Laurentienne)
It's been a year since he ran his way into our hearts. I didn't think it was possible but he only gets cuter. #gotchaday #troopaversary #loverescuedme
I know Christian memes are ridiculous but this one is actually kind of relatable
This is what my Sunday night has come to look like. Once a week I have a pill party and organize all my medications for the week. I have 4 nightly medications plus 2 supplements. There are also all my as needed medications, but that's another story. Last week and this week I am going through the process of weaning off one medication and adding in another. Let me tell you. This hasn't been the best. #fibro isn't a one pill works kinda illness. We are working to find the right combination but so far we haven't. The reality with chronic illness is that something is always changing. Some days for the better! #spoonie #chronicillness #chronicpain
If You See A Service Dog...
while itâs working:
talk to the person and not the dog. the dog could be trained for any variety of jobs, most of which that it needs to be paying attention constantly for. if it becomes distracted during a crucial time, it could quickly become unsafe for the person it is aiding.
donât pet the dog. you probably shouldnât even ask to pet the dog in the first place because it is working. if the person tells you you can, then itâs okay.
donât make kissy noises or snap your fingers at the dog. dogs with less experience, and even ones with years of training, can still be easily distracted.
donât offer treats or food to the dog. the dog is likely trained to ignore food or treats unless given to them by their person. this could break their training and teach them habits they have already unlearned.
if you have a dog, even if yours is really friendly, donât let them approach the service dog.
donât ask the person why they have the dog. peopleâs disabilities and other conditions are personal, none of your business, and you have no right to know. you also shouldnât ask them to prove their dog is a service dog by having it do some task. every dog is trained differently, and for different tasks and you still have no right to know.
donât interact with the dog or person, even if you think youâre helping. ask first. donât pick up the leash or move their other items without permission.
donât draw attention to the dog by shouting âlook a dog!â or pointing. the dogs are essentially medical equipment, like a wheelchair or oxygen tank, and arenât a spectacle.Â
donât take pictures of the dog, especially without permission. its rude to take pictures of anyone without asking, and service dogs are medical equipment that you shouldnât be photographing in the first place. itâs awkward for everyone
i personally donât use a service dog, but my best friend cj does (he asked me to write this post for him), and we encounter all sorts of things every day. doing the above makes it easier for the dog to do its job.Â
For years I have dealt with chronic pain. I finally described the right things to the right doctor and boom the puzzle has been solved. It hasn't been easy, and it will continue to be hard, but I'm grateful to have a diagnosis. Fibromyalgia is a widespread chronic pain condition that often comes with other illnesses and syndromes. We're just starting to figure this all out but I've got a great team backing me up. 2 months ago I knew nothing about this; so my goal is to share as I learn more. #fibromyalgia #spoonie
