Confining and restrictive, which were not conducive to painful but necessary healing talks.
He opened his eyes after fortifying himself, taking in a deep breath and murmuring a prayer to the God Emperor for patience. He walked into his office at a deliberately unhurried pace, so as to not further send the weeping brother into hysterics. He quietly opened the door to his office, stepped through, closed the door behind him and paused for a moment.
The weeping continued unabated, as the brother in question did not seem to so much as glance in his direction.
This... May perhaps be a bit more serious than he was initially concerned for. Not that he thought any crisis his brothers or cousins were in were anything less than serious for the marine in question, even if they would sometimes... Overreact.
Lykos quietly turned on the privacy wards, so that Trai's weeping and words would not carry beyond the walls of his office. The second thing he did was turn on a quiet white-noise machine, setting the noises to a gentle, but ever present wind, the quiet chanting of brothers, and the occasional, ringing chime of ritual bells.
Trai continued to weep, unabated.
Lykos then pulled out a lighter and lit a censor of incense - a blend that he created himself, by hand, using ingredients from plants that he grew himself. It was the closest he could get to the Colchisian incense (minus the... psychoactive variants used in certain prayer rituals) that he had been able to craft. The subtle but complexly scented smoke began to fill the room at a slow, unhurried pace. The same pace that Lykos himself took as he walked over to the couch that Trai had thrown himself into, and knelt on a pillow near the couch.

He could easily imagine that Trai could spiral wildly out of emotional equilibrium if his bonded rejected it. And not only because the other had an intense bond, but due to the nature of his personality. He and Trai were working on it - emotional... volatility... was a common affliction amongst word bearers.
"They... They told me that they did not want me to be with them for the rest of the week! That they were going to be very busy with work and could ill-afford any distractions! They think me a distraction and nothing more..." Trai croaked, tears streaming down his face once again. "They are preparing for a work trip that will take them far from Gannet Point and have also forbidden me from going with them, yet they are also taking that rotten creature they brought into our home."
"... Do you mean the service dog that helps them with their heart condition?" Lykos prompted. Trai was convinced that the dog was trying to usurp his position within his bonded's heart and life. Especially when Trai went off his meds. "... Trai, when was the last time you took your medication?"
"I... I... I've been out for two days. I've been waiting for the call to pick up my next monthly dose, but I haven't heard back from them yet." Trai answered "What does that... matter... Oh." A hint of embarrassment and sheepishness was in his voice "... I am... I am overreacting again, aren't I?"
"... Perhaps just a bit." Lykos agreed with a small, understanding smile. "Emotions are... Difficult things, and one thing that I have noticed, the longer that I am here on Ancient Terra, si that we were taught to use our e motions as weapons... Rather than to handle them in a way that was healthy for ourselves. Rage is righteous, fear is nonexistent... Hatred is law. It's not... A way to encourage emotional regulation and balance, is it?"
"I... No... Oh, I've been such a fool for the past few hours. I... At the beginning of the spiral I thought that I might be overreacting, but I couldn't... I couldn't stop worrying about whether or not my bonded still wants me and my thoughts kept spiraling and my emotions along with them. I had already left our home when I started to weep. I've been... AH... As my bonded says. a huge drama queen, haven't I?" Trai sniffled, shame burning bright and bitter in his hearts "... I knew that I was starting to go down a dark path which is why I went to seek you out brother."

Poor man just needs a refresher on his coping mechanisms. And good to hear he's got medication that he...normally takes to help with his mood balancing.

The Black Templar took in a deep, steadying breath before he reached out and knocked on the front door of his bonded's house, trying to calm what felt like battle nerves. Which was foolish, as he wasn't in any physical danger. "Jace, are you there?"
"Come on in, I'm in the living room." Jace called out after what felt like a painful eternity to Erwin.
"Very well." He opened the door and carefully stepped in, closing it behind himself. Jace's home smelled of mulled spices and slowly-roasting meats. He took a steadying breath as he removed his boots, setting them near the shoe rack and making his way over to the aforementioned room.
"You said that you wished to speak with me about something?" Erwin prompted, maintaining a calm expression on his face, despite the fact that he was... Somewhat nervous as to the fact that the mortal whom he had very recently bonded to had been rather... Frustratingly vague in text what it was that they wanted to speak with him about.
"Yes, you told me three weeks ago that you and I are bonded - and it means that our lives are tied together in some way? I did ask you to give me some time to process this and to do some research about these bonds. I am grateful for the time and the resources that you pointed me towards." Jace answers, smiling gently up at him from where they were sitting on the couch, having just set down a paintbrush "I've learned quite a bit about the different sorts of bonds that can manifest. Do you know the type of bond we have? Or is it more undefined then that? This is one of the things that has been.. Vague, at least from what those of us who are bonded have been able to discern and have talked online about, at any rate. Please sit."
Erwin obeyed the order, sitting on the plush carpet as he wasn't sure if his bulk would damage their furniture. "If you want our bond to be evaluated, I can make an appointment with one of the Librarians - Astartes Librarians have-" heretical witchcraft, dangerous psionic powers, no. No. He can't say any of that, as he is trying to make a good impression on his bonded, so Erwin spoke with a careful diplomacy that was difficult for the Black Templar "An ability that allows them to perceive the bond directly. I'm not sure if both of us need to be present, or if only one of us needs to be present for the assessment. I am newly arrived to Terra, and am learning quite a few things, so the time to process has been a boon to myself as well."
Like how apparently many of his brothers refused this gift from the emperor until they were bound so tightly to a mortal where they physically could not live without them. Erwin thought that foolish, as this was clearly a gift from The God Emperor for his service, to be able to devote himself to one of them in such a way. "And I do believe that simply because out bond is or at least is currently in one way, it does not need to stay in that way. if we wished to change it... It.. From what I have been able to understand, is a method for us to be drawn together, to learn each other and to grow in strength together as we decide how we wish to move forward together. At least, this is how it has been explained to me, although I could be misunderstanding something. I have learned a tremendous amount of things in a very short span of time."

So, something that I wanted to tell you up front is that I have two romantic partners, who I don't plan on leaving, despite the mystical bond that the two of us have been given. We are in an open, poly relationship, and if you and I are compatible and interested in that way, I'd be happy to introduce you to them as another potential partner. But... If you're not sure you can share me with others, then this isn't going to work out. I... I hope I'm not coming across as harsh, but I want to be open and honest with you. From what I've read, a lot of astartes with bonds can get... Really possessive. Which I am very much not into."

Romantic things with any baseline made him nervous - between the size and strength differences, he was concerned about logistical issues. He knew that there were some cousins... And brothers... Who enjoyed chasing or being chased by mortals but it just seemed so... Messy to him. "I am currently uninterested in any romantic or sexual relationships at the moment. If that changes, I will notify you and we can revisit this conversation then? Although that may not necessarily mean that I will gain romantic or sexual interests in you... And I truly hope that this does not come off as rude or overly-blunt. You are being forthright and clear-worded, so I am doing my best to do the same."
Jace relaxed a little, a breath of relief leaving him. "I am glad to hear that, and that sounds entirely fair to me. And... I would like to see what our bond says. Is there a process for us to go through in order to get scanned, or do we go to one of the bases?"
"Those with the ability to assess bonds are few and very busy, so I would request an appointment, and then we would go on the appointed day and time. Do you have a time of the day and week that would work best for you?" Erwin answers, clasping his hands in his lap as he spoke, one hand on his wrist-mounted vox, ready to begin the process. "It would also be the time that we would register the bond with the alliance - they track these things."

For the first time in art meet Malkos. Resident Renegade Iron Warrior originally unbonded but now has a lovely platonic bond to BOTH of Lullaby's parents.
Which has helped his mood considerably although he'll never look it. He has deep wrinkles, eye bags and scars from battles past. Also something about Hrud poisoning permanently aging his face too, hence why even when he gets perfect sleep his eyes still look like they're about to hop on a plane.
He's also supposed to have two facial scars too. One over his right eye and an cross pair on his opposite cheek.

Summary: Erwin chats with his bonded, Jace
The Black Templar took in a deep, steadying breath before he reached out and knocked on the front door of his bonded's house, trying to calm what felt like battle nerves. Which was foolish, as he wasn't in any physical danger. "Jace, are you there?"
"Come on in, I'm in the living room." Jace called out after what felt like a painful eternity to Erwin.
"Very well." He opened the door and carefully stepped in, closing it behind himself. Jace's home smelled of mulled spices and slowly-roasting meats. He took a steadying breath as he removed his boots, setting them near the shoe rack and making his way over to the aforementioned room.
"You said that you wished to speak with me about something?" Erwin prompted, maintaining a calm expression on his face, despite the fact that he was... Somewhat nervous as to the fact that the mortal whom he had very recently bonded to had been rather... Frustratingly vague in text what it was that they wanted to speak with him about.
"Yes, you told me three weeks ago that you and I are bonded - and it means that our lives are tied together in some way? I did ask you to give me some time to process this and to do some research about these bonds. I am grateful for the time and the resources that you pointed me towards." Jace answers, smiling gently up at him from where they were sitting on the couch, having just set down a paintbrush "I've learned quite a bit about the different sorts of bonds that can manifest. Do you know the type of bond we have? Or is it more undefined then that? This is one of the things that has been.. Vague, at least from what those of us who are bonded have been able to discern and have talked online about, at any rate. Please sit."
Erwin obeyed the order, sitting on the plush carpet as he wasn't sure if his bulk would damage their furniture. "If you want our bond to be evaluated, I can make an appointment with one of the Librarians - Astartes Librarians have-" heretical witchcraft, dangerous psionic powers, no. No. He can't say any of that, as he is trying to make a good impression on his bonded, so Erwin spoke with a careful diplomacy that was difficult for the Black Templar "An ability that allows them to perceive the bond directly. I'm not sure if both of us need to be present, or if only one of us needs to be present for the assessment. I am newly arrived to Terra, and am learning quite a few things, so the time to process has been a boon to myself as well."
Like how apparently many of his brothers refused this gift from the emperor until they were bound so tightly to a mortal where they physically could not live without them. Erwin thought that foolish, as this was clearly a gift from The God Emperor for his service, to be able to devote himself to one of them in such a way. "And I do believe that simply because out bond is or at least is currently in one way, it does not need to stay in that way. if we wished to change it... It.. From what I have been able to understand, is a method for us to be drawn together, to learn each other and to grow in strength together as we decide how we wish to move forward together. At least, this is how it has been explained to me, although I could be misunderstanding something. I have learned a tremendous amount of things in a very short span of time."
Jace's eyes light up at that and they nod "Excellent! So, something that I wanted to tell you up front is that I have two romantic partners, who I don't plan on leaving, despite the mystical bond that the two of us have been given. We are in an open, poly relationship, and if you and I are compatible and interested in that way, I'd be happy to introduce you to them as another potential partner. But... If you're not sure you can share me with others, then this isn't going to work out. I... I hope I'm not coming across as harsh, but I want to be open and honest with you. From what I've read, a lot of astartes with bonds can get... Really possessive. Which I am very much not into."
Erwin blinks rapidly, trying to parse through some of the language. "I... Ah. I am still learning this language, what is a poly relationship? The only terms with poly in them that I know of involve polymers, which can be used in a number of ways but don't generally refer to people directly?" He tilts his head a little in earnest confusion.
Jace relaxes just a fraction before tensing a little "Oh! Poly in this term is short for polyamorous. It means that I am in a romantic relationship with more than one person. I'm in a romantic relationship with three other people - the others are off at work at the moment." Jace explained patiently.
Erwin tilted his head a little and answered "I am glad that you have romantic love and support." Why. Why would this bother him? He cared for Jace dearly, but the idea of doing... Romantic things with any baseline made him nervous - between the size and strength differences, he was concerned about logistical issues. He knew that there were some cousins... And brothers... Who enjoyed chasing or being chased by mortals but it just seemed so... Messy to him. "I am currently uninterested in any romantic or sexual relationships at the moment. If that changes, I will notify you and we can revisit this conversation then? Although that may not necessarily mean that I will gain romantic or sexual interests in you... And I truly hope that this does not come off as rude or overly-blunt. You are being forthright and clear-worded, so I am doing my best to do the same."
Jace relaxed a little, a breath of relief leaving him. "I am glad to hear that, and that sounds entirely fair to me. And... I would like to see what our bond says. Is there a process for us to go through in order to get scanned, or do we go to one of the bases?"
"Those with the ability to assess bonds are few and very busy, so I would request an appointment, and then we would go on the appointed day and time. Do you have a time of the day and week that would work best for you?" Erwin answers, clasping his hands in his lap as he spoke, one hand on his wrist-mounted vox, ready to begin the process. "It would also be the time that we would register the bond with the alliance - they track these things."
"Huh, there was mention of that online, good to know that's confirmed. As for time... Any day monday through friday after 2pm, and on the weekends from 10am to 4pm." Jace answers "... Do you want to spend some time getting to know one another, or are you going to be busy doing... Other things?"

Sorry I haven’t posted anything in over a month, I’ve been slightly distracted.
I really like the thought of when Hornet was born she just popped out of the egg a glow stick lmao. Because her father is a higher being, and is kinda moon, she glows really brightly until her shell hardens, so the weavers and her mom are just a little blind for a bit. Like shes the lone star that survived, and her siblings the dear night sky. This isn’t canon, but the idea is fun. I wanna draw a stupid little comic of her coming out of her egg, but that’s later lol.
Anyway, I’ll post the drawings I did for airtight here later, I only did like half the drawings I did last time, but that’s still like ten lol. Hope you all like this! :)
