One of the most famous shots in movie history, Orson Welles' opening sequence for Touch of Evil was shot from a camera on a crane that spanned several city blocks.

Nokero Lights

Truly an amazing concept and solid design --  the Nokero lights are solar chargeable lights that give off light equivalent to one 60W bulb -- all from 4 super  efficient LED's. The LED lights are housed behind an opaque diffuser.

My first thought was I could use these lights for camping. The inventors purpose is much higher -- you can donate one of these lights to a family in need in Africa. 90% of Africa is without power and functions at night via kerosene lamp. Kerosene lamps leave a carbon footprint equivalent to 30 cars and a night by a kerosene lamp is equivalent to spending the evening smoking 3 packs of cigarettes.
