Before I go and post what I was originally gonna post, I wanted to ask. In the Hellenic/Hellenism polytheistic community do dreams mean anything? Can dreams have any kind of meaning?

I’m a beginner in this and I’m mainly asking due to a recent thing that happened but I’m not gonna go into detail on this post and I wanted to know if there’s meaning to dreams at all in this religion before posting about it to ask what others might think.

The worst thing is hyperfixating on a character from a thing that’s too niche because the fandom presence online is so inactive and nonexistent that there’s little to no fan content 😭. I had to SCRAPE to find fanart…but don’t even get me started on fanfic. There’s a hand full of shipping fics but any possible X readers?? Nope. Zero. Unless I’m looking for them wrong or missing them…? Like this is how I satisfy my fixations and how I immerse myself (outside of the main content of course).

I played the og more than a decade ago. I’ve been obsessed with this franchise for a long time. I know what he did. Doesn’t change that I’m saving those edits and writing devious fics.

That’s all to say, why are people surprised people are simping over him, acting like the people simping ‘don’t know’ (maybe some newbies don’t but I guarantee there’s many MANY that have played the original and are part of the simp group), and are acting like it’s somehow unfathomable that someone would still want to pummel his balls and sit on his face. Y’all simp for villains with far worse track records than that and don’t bat an eye.

It's not just bc it's weird and fucked but also bc I'm a disabled woman. Like, this isn't some supernatural serial killer brute. This is a man that could genuinely hurt me irl. I do think he's an awful man and doesn't really deserve a good ending. But I also want to climb him like a tree. Duality. A very shocking concept

I'm also saying this as a trans woman who thinks Eddie Gluskin is hot, so maybe I'm not the best to comment on this. I also have a chronic pain condition, not a traditional sickness that is treated in an inpatient setting. But I still think being disabled makes my insight maybe possibly a little tiny bit meaningful. Potentially. Probably. Hopefully.

I think your insight is absolutely valuable. I do think there are some in the fandom who either don’t fully understand the extent of what he’s done, and do write it off. But I’m bothered by other fans acting as though everyone who wants him is ignorant to it, when most of us do know. I have my mental illnesses, and im a trans man. A character like James is complex and I think we can all agree he deserves every second of what he goes through. So I very much value your point of view and I think that there’s a lot of nuance here.

I actually noticed the same thing happening when I was into Cooper Adams from trap and Eddie Gluskin. It feels really infantilizing tbh. Idk how you feel as a trans man, but as a trans woman I always brushed it off as sexism. Probably one of the reasons it happens, but if it's happening to you, something else might be going on. For James, I think it's largely because of the ambiguity of silent hill (and especially SH2) and the fact that most discussions on SH occur online, but especially in Tumblr and Twitter. Tumblr has this weird battle between puritanical mob and dark underbelly of degenerates vibes. People who can see nuance are either drowned out, join in on one side bc they agree with that side sometimes, or just plain leave the platform. It's hell but this is better than Twitter.

I definitely think there’s misogyny involved, a lot of infantilizing and elitism as well. There’s a lot to the topic as a whole, but this whole puritanical crusade has definitely had a hand in a lot of fandoms with morally gray or strait up ‘bad characters’. I always say we as humans aren’t one dimensional, we are capable of nuance and duality. And you’re totally right, Twitter is an absolute cesspool. At least here I feel generally safer to express my opinions most of the time. Or just existing.
