So, obviously, this is an amazing first kiss, from he hesitant “Also…” to the way he looks down at her lips, to her adorable “What?”s, to the way he just goes for it, to her little smile that’s all “oh”, to his big sigh of relief because he kissed Betty Cooper. The whole thing is perfect.

But I will die on the hill that the best part is her little realization of “The car!” and his reaction to it. Kissing Jughead clears Betty’s mind because she’s just completely at ease and at peace with him, and that’s fucking precious. But even better is Jughead’s pleased smile at her realization, the way he’s just like “yes, that’s the Betty Cooper I love”, and how he playfully teases her about it. Betty, who is wound so goddamn tight, is just completely at ease for one moment because it’s Jughead and he’s kissing her, and Jughead is just so enamored with Betty not because she’s the girl next door but because she’s an investigative weirdo who does shit like have revelations in the middle of kiss.

It’s the beauty of bughead in a nutshell, and it’s perfect, and I love it.

Which got me wondering whether it's not a key party at all. What if it's a lock-in instead.
