STARDEW VALLEY (2016) dev. ConcernedApe
13th, 14th and 15th century gold rings from the collection of Edmund Waterton. Waterton was a major collector of rings in the 19th century, but an extravagant lifestyle forced him to pawn his collection. When he was unable to pay to release it, the collection was acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum.
I saw a post about Shane and Ilya being sad that they can't thank each other in their acceptance speeches like other can with their spouses and it got me thinking:
Ilya wins his first awards and hes got nobody he really wants to thank after his team and coach cause he he hates his family but he knows his speech is too short so on impulse he goes "And I want to thank Shane Hollander for being slightly worse than me this season". Everyone knows it was going to one of those two, so everyone thinks hes an asshole to say that but whats new so it works for him. But from then on it then becomes a bit for both of them to thank each other in their speeches in a snide way as a reason they won.
Shane winning the Art Ross Trophy (Awarded to the player who leads the league in total points at the end of the regular season). and going "special thanks to Rozanov for missing at least 5 shots this season, he was a huge help"
Ilya winning the Conn Smythe Trophy (Awarded to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs.) "Just want to give a quick shout out to Hollander for getting knocked out in the second round this season. Must hate to see me up here."
They find a way to mention the other in their speeches every time all the time.
and every time, they sit in their seats like
it’s so magical and beautiful that there are sprawling interconnected cave systems carved deep into the earth by various geological forces and you don’t have to go in them. there are miles and miles of stone passageways in total darkness that require you to exhale all the air out of your lungs to squeeze through parts of them and you don’t have to be there. some of these squeezes are underwater and require cave divers to take off their oxygen tanks and push them through ahead of them and me i am above ground looking at the sky as we speak. there are untold subterranean wonders no human has ever seen and i will not be the one to discover them #grateful #blessed
so true there could be any number of undiscovered species down there all of which are none of my business and never will be. peace and love on (the surface of) planet earth 💕

There was recently a copyright infringement case in YA and I need everyone to know that the following sentence was in the legal decision:
“Hot, sexy, dangerous boys, central to virtually all young adult romance novels, cannot be copyrighted.”
“Regarding setting, the court held that both works taking place in Alaska high schools was not protectable because Alaska is a public place and setting a teen novel in a high school is a common genre convention.”
Freeman v. Deebs-Elkenaney | Loeb & Loeb LLP
I've read the entire decision (skimming over the purely legal precedent/definitions bit) and here are some of my favorite bits:
As a lawyer, I both envy and pity the poor judge who had to deal with this case.
I'm sorry, but
On characters, the court found that while both works feature heroines with supernatural abilities and love interests who are paranormal creatures—at a macro level what one would expect of characters in a teen romantasy novel—the “totality of attributes and traits” of the characters differed materially. The court noted, for example, that Freeman’s heroine is a witch/shifter/demon who does not fly, while Wolff’s is a gargoyle/witch who does fly; that Freeman’s romantic lead is a sun-kissed Viking shapeshifter with no posse, while Wolff’s is a dark, brooding vampire prince with a posse; and that the Crave series features a fully developed love triangle with a second romantic lead and competition between “born” and “made” vampires that has no counterpart in Freeman’s work. The court rejected the notion that a heroine who takes advanced classes, quotes great works of literature, loves reading and discusses French philosophers was protectable, noting that the character Hermione from Harry Potter also exhibited those traits. The court also noted that the heroine having a biracial, gay male friend was not copyrightable.
plEASE. I'm dying here.
