Theo pulls the fire alarm at his school and the 118 are called to the scene.

Buck is spiralling the whole time until he gets there. The entire school has evacuated and is waiting out in the courtyard when the 118 arrive and from the crowd Theo rushes out and crashes into Buck.

He's all smiles and so very excited to see Buck and Eddie and his family but Buck is still reeling from the terror of thinking Theo might be in danger.

Buck gets down to his knees and asks very quietly “Theo, did you pull the fire alarm?” and Theo nods with all the pride and confidence of a 4 year old and says “I wanted to see you!”.

Buck just sighs because he really should be scolding him but that's so freaking adorable

The parallel of Buck running towards Harry in the hospital telling the SWAT team he's with him and Athena running to Buck in the hospital telling the cops he's okay.

I love that it's canon that Eddie is all sweet and soft and silly and then when someone insults Buck he becomes his own personal attack dog in an instant

You ever notice the amount of Buddie scenes where you just ask yourself why are you guys hanging out right now.

For example that scene where Eddie is packing for El Paso and Buck is there playing with a toy dinosaur.

I know it's for exposition but like they rarely have a goal when they hang out. It's pretty much just proximity hang outs. Like there is no shared hobby, concert, bar, nor activity that doesn't include exposition.

Like Eddie and Tommy hung out to watch fights and play basketball. Maddie and dispatch did karaoke nights. When they were still friends Maddie and Chim hung out they had hang outs like karaoke too. Athena and Hen are hanging out at a bar. The girls have wine night. Buck hanging out at a bar with Ravi.

That's how friend hang outs work they make plans picking a setting and an activity.

When it is just Buck and Eddie they only seem to hang out when they are going to talk about something and deal with how their life is going. Maybe with a beer or two. Buck just goes to Eddie's house all the time to just plop on the couch. Other than that it's a hang out with Chris like the dinners, child activities, and baking. These two like being next to each other for no reason. They always will have each other's back when the other one needs it.

“Hey, was it fun for you? Making me feel like my house was haunted?”

But make it Buck talking to Daniel.

“Mom and Dad were right, you're an idiot.”

Daniel's been this ghost haunting Buck before he even knew he ever existed. Even when they left the town where Daniel died, he followed the Buckley's in their grief.

Buck didn't even know it, but he grew up in a haunted house.

The way Buck tries to shield both Christopher and Theo from seeing the horrors. The way he does everything he can to protect these kids when his own parents told him, "You have to protect yourself, we can't do it for you".

Because maybe he grew up thinking he had to protect himself, that he couldn't be loved unconditionally, but that never stopped him from doing everything in his power to protect these kids and to love them regardless.

Oh, the Shannon parallel is breaking me.

It really goes to show that her death still haunts Eddie. I feel like we never really got to see full resolution for the whole Kim situation.

But what if Eddie sees Shannon? He gets shot, he's delirious. He sees Shannon. She tells him that "It's okay to choose joy. Let yourself be happy" because that's what it's been all about. He still hasn't really chosen joy. He's let happiness find him, sure, but he hasn't chosen it yet.

I think there's still something lingering over him. Something holding him back. He's found peace, but he just needs an extra push to find joy.

"Buck will receive something that only Eddie can relate to"

This is super out there, but what if Buck gets shot?

There are theories bouncing around about a Russian mob storyline, another shooting arc wouldn't be so random, right?

(This is so not gonna happen, but I just have to throw it out there for the sake of it)

Just realized the Buckleys probably left Daniel's grave behind.

Is the stone weathered away? Have weeds grown over the engraved words? Are the flowers wilted or decomposed?

For how much he impacted his family's life after his death, Daniel was just as forgotten and left behind as his living siblings.

Maddie probably realized she was interested in nursing (if not Doug's influence) from all the times she patched up Buck's wounds and injuries.

She couldn't do anything about the way their parents treated them, but she could put a band-aid on his scraped knee.

She couldn't drown out her parent's shoutings, but she could rinse out the dirt stuck in his elbow.

Or maybe it was from those years spent in and out of hospitals for Daniel. Seeing the nurses and how he would settle down with their gentle touch and calming voices.

She couldn't save Daniel from cancer, and she couldn't save Buck from her parents' grief, but maybe, just maybe, she could save someone else.

And then Doug took that joy away from her.

Brooke and Robert.

Maddie and Daniel.

May and Harry.

Nowhere in this list does Evan Buckley truly fit.

Because even in his own home, even in his own ‘families’, Evan Buckley is an intrusion in what life could've been if not for tragedy.

So, yes. Buck could spend evenings watching the Bachelor with May and Harry, and he could give Athena updates from the fire station (because Bobby can't).

He spent time cooking with Bobby in the kitchen, picked him up when he fell down a bottle, took his mind off the ghosts of his past by jumping into fires and running up ladders.

He could sit down, smile, and eat dinner with his parents. He could make Maddie laugh, and he could remind her of the moments in their childhood when life was lighter.

But he always knows, deep inside, he doesn’t truly belong. Because Evan Buckley was born a reminder of the dying and the dead, and that'll never change.
