âI donât feel good,â she gagged. âWhat happened last night?â
âI donât know. Do you want some help?â
az-nazai:
A few more minutes of tinkering and he finally slid out from under the unit and stood up. The air coming from it was now definitely a lot warmer than it had been previously. âThere, should be working now.â
âGreat. Thank you so much.â She stands, still wrapped in the blanket. âDo you take tips?â
jaceyconroy:
He rolled his eyes. âIt wasnât that bad.â
âThatâs what you think. Youâre lucky you didnât actually see yourself.â
waltonemily:
âYou might be onto a winner there! It could be the new.. Whatâs that new dating site called, timber? I donât know.â Emily admitted with a laugh. âMaybe Iâll have to start hanging out at the skating rink looking for eligible bachelors.â
âI think itâs Tinder.â Sloane nods. âGood luck with that. Iâd love a hockey player boyfriend too so let me know how it goes.â
âDo you want me to turn up the heat?â he asked, again his voice muffled by the machine he was fixing.
âYes, that would be superb.â She moves the blanket back over her shoulders.
âAny change?â He asked after a couple more minutes of tinkering with it, pausing his work.
She drops the blanket to pool around here waist and waits a moment. âDefinitely a change. I donât feel the air blowing now.â
âI rather prefer tea. Why you so eager to rid of me? I can be rather good companyâ
âWell, thatâs too bad because I made coffee.â She steps over the coffee machine on the desk where a steaming pot of coffee is sitting and pours herself a cup. âI want you leave so I can get dressed and get ready for the day. I donât know about your claim to be good company. Seems unsupported.â
âHaving my afternoon tea. And what exactly are you doing?â
âTrying to forget what I just saw.â
Az frowns before shifting back out of sight as he continued to tinker with the machine.
Sloane returns to quietly using her phone. She changes to her other hand through because her fingers are getting too cold.
Emily laughed at that, cheeks flushing slightly. âThat would be ideal, definitely. And hope beyond all hopes that they donât take after their mother.. Maybe I should make it a prerequisite when I go on dates.â
âYou should. Or maybe look for dancers and hockey players to date. Can you do a search like that in dating apps? Or join a dance class and look for eligible people there.â
He tugged at the blanket at her feet and it fell off her shoulders as well. âCan you feel the air blowing on you?â
âOh,â she says when the other person pulls on her blanket. âYes, I can.â She moves the blanket back over her shoulders for good measure.
He winks at her.
âExactly what are you doing?â
âDo you still feel it?â He asked after a while, pausing his work under the air conditioning unit and stick his head out to look at her. âThe airâŠdo you feel it?â
Sloane looks up from her phone. âItâs hard to tell, because Iâm so cold, but I think the air might be getting warmer?â
âYou know, I think Iâll just take youâre word.â He perhaps said that a little too quickly, but he was suddenly terrified.
âGood.â She lowers her fist. âSo, do you feel okay? Because I did make coffee if you want some. Would coffee make you leave faster?â
I safed up some days off and went to visit my mum in New York.
âThatâs very cool. Welcome back. Last time we spoke, you were drunk, so itâs nice to see you not drunk.â
âItâs amazing. Especially the parts with Chris Pratt. You really should see it.âÂ
âIs it still in theaters?â
She laughed at that, ducking her head in embarrassment. âWould you believe me if I said I was?â Emily wondered before lifting her shoulders lightly. âI think itâs genetic. My mom trips over things all the time.â
âThatâs interesting. You should probably find someone with impeccable grace to have kids with to cancel it out for the next generation.â
