Alternative Games to Hogwarts Legacy

As a cis atheist, I feel that there's not much I can contribute to this discussion that hasn't already been said by others far more qualified. That being said, I'd like to recommend some games you might enjoy if you have a wizard game itch. These aren't really roleplay games (though many of those exist), but I wanted to restrict this to things I personally own. I have them all on Steam, but they may be available on various consoles.

With the exception of the last game, all of these are indie projects so you're actually supporting developers directly.

Spellcaster University

This is possibly the closest to HP vibes. You basically act as headmaster and build a wizard school, overseeing your students gain skills and eventually good careers. It's also a bit of a roguelike - there's a constant timer counting down until the evil lord attacks and destroys the school. Ultimately you can push this back, but it always happens. Then you move on and start a new school, keeping any bonuses you gained so your students get stronger each time. There's some strategy involved but it's also a pretty chill game overall.

Potion Craft

It's pretty simple. You make a variety of potions and sell them in your shop. The vibes here are lovely. If anyone remembers Pottermore back in the day - it's very similar to the potion minigame that used to have.

Strange Horticulture

It's basically a puzzle game all about identifying plants and solving an overarching plot mystery. There are magic and fantasy elements, but I'm mostly putting it here because I think it'll capture a vibe.

Two Point Campus

This one is the loosest connection. The point of this game is to build and run a network of universities, except all the courses are kind of ridiculous. There's a level based on Hogwarts. After that you can use the witchcraft courses in any university though.
