Hey, don't know if you remember me but I was the anon who asked you how to get into jjk a couple weeks ago. Your tips helped me a lot and i've watched all of it, thank you sooo much. <3
I just spent way too much money on some merch today, I guess that says it all... I'm completely hooked and looking forward to binge-reading all your jjk fics now. Sooo excited especially for moon trapped in the pond's surface, you're truly the best when it comes to complex worldbuilding in the context of omegaverse (and smut, I don't know how you do it). Does one actually ever get over the awkwardness of writing smut? Seriously hooow, it always turns out so well, even when I'm sceptical at first (I'm talking about works best under pressure and I'll keep talking about it forever, it's so fun).
Also I agree that nowadays there has been an immense increase in virtue signaling and extremely prude (for lack of a better word) people out there, trying to bring their censorship over to ao3. I'm fully convinced it's partly connected to more conservative views everywhere, as fascism is on the rise again and they always go hand in hand. Plus a lot of it is probably kids that don't understand one of the basic principles of ao3, that you, the reader, are responsible for your reading experience.
Anyway, I'll go read now (and pray that you maybe write a little bit for choso someday, he's so cute when he's sobbing). <3
you did it!!! i'm so glad you're on board now! And I'm very happy to hear my tips worked out for you. Moon trapped is my current baby! The first chapter is a doozy hehe.
Does writing smut ever get less awkward? nnno not really :( But you come up with a formula that works after a while. Actually I think my approach is that I give up on trying to un-awkward it. One of the reasons smut often reads so awkwardly is because people try to dress it up. Fancy words and overwrought emotional language. But then it comes off so cheesy. So I came at it like writing any other scene. Just say what's happening and try to stay in the action. Don't dress it up with fancy adjectives and adverbs. If anything, try to work in awkward, uncomfortable, and gross moments to ground it. Those unperfect moments are vulnerable, and they make the scene feel more real and intimate.
I forget about works best under pressure sometimes. My very first neo fic!
I do really need to write Choso. Actually I can't believe I haven't yet. I have one Choso wip but I don't think it's going anywhere. But I recommend GinForInk's Chest Press Princess for some tasty gym au choso/naoya hate sex, and Pupae by MockAfterDark for some dark, kinda fucked up chosoita. It's got some great character stuff to chew on ;D
