This scene is so out of real life. Once panic sets in, analytical thinking is out of the picture. Someone posted that Rei could have gone to locate the hospital through Google maps on his phone. I don’t believe he is not capable of it, but he hasn’t thought of it because of fear and his ineptitude to take care of a child. He depends much too much on Kazuki to do the basic everyday things. He was 20 or in his early 20s, barely out of his teens, when he probably lived with Kazuki. He’s seen the horrors of life through his gun, but he hasn’t experienced life. That’s depressing.
