Thinking about how when Laurent is about to ride out to the border, the Regent kisses him on the cheeks, the same way Judas kisses Jesus on the cheek in the garden of Gethsemane as a sign of betrayal, and that was how the Romans knew who to crucify 🙃

They’re on Reddit saying texting “hi” is low iq and gives people the ick and that’s why they got ghosted. They don’t let u say hi no more….. we’re in a loneliness epidemic bc everybody is a weirdo about every little thing im cracking up
Thinking any texting habit is weird while using Reddit is funny as fuck the irony
just "hi" as an opener online is so dry, especially if I never messaged you (general "you" not anyone on this thread in particular), I have no idea what made you message me, it reads as a pop up ad or spambot. The "dom" bots on here are especially notorious for that.
Just go ahead and say why you're messaging, like "that comic you shared was hilarious" or "I'm feeling bored, anything interesting happening to you lately?". It's so easy on tumblr, especially on desktop, to include the instigating post in the first message. In school or at work you have a context of shared location/circumstance to initiate conversations or friendships, online you ONLY have your words and maybe pictures to create that bid for connection, you do yourself a disservice by not differentiating yourself from a spambot.
Ok this is something I actually have a lot of feelings about. I need everyone to know that messaging/texting only "hi" varies wildly depending on the context. It's not about "they won't even let us say hi anymore!" It's the circumstances. The older people are, the less time and patience they have for someone just texting them "hi." Also bots are an actual epidemic, and you're not doing yourself any favors by just saying "hi"
With good friends, it's not weird at all. It might get irritating if your text chains only consist of "hi" and nothing else....like, "hi" isn't a conversation, but you and your close friends don't need every conversation to be a long, meaningful paragraph. "Hi" is fine.
If you're on a hookup app? Sure, why not? "Hi" will get the job done. You're not trying to form a real connection with someone. You just want an opener that leads to a mutual goal.
With a new friend, or someone you don't know as well, you can try it, but it's probably not going to help you form a better friendship. Even if you're just texting because you're bored, there's no reason you can't just say "Hi! I'm waiting in line/at the dentist/doomscrolling and I'm so bored right now. Have you done anything/watched/read anything fun lately?"
If this is in a work capacity (even an informal one), it's weird and annoying. Please just say what you want. Messaging a co-worker/boss "hi" is more awkward and annoying then just saying "Hi, I was wondering about ____. Do you have a second to clarify some things?" Nobody's got time for a singular "hi." Just be up front.
If you're on a dating app, assuming you actually do want to try and get to know someone, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! If you've done this, and it's worked, then that's great. I'm happy for you. But this is not something that will work a lot, especially once you get into your late 20s and 30s. You should be old enough to know how to talk to someone by now. DON'T NERF YOURSELF IMMEDIATELY. I hate to be heteronormative, but when this happens, it's usually men messaging women, and then when the women don't respond, the guys get butthurt about it and wonder why they're getting ghosted when they've just demonstrated that they can't even start a conversation. At best, you will get mistaken for a bot, and you can rectify it. At worst, the person you want to talk to will think you're a moron, and you've ruined your chances with them because you can't think of anything to say to get a conversation going. The older people get, the less time they have for "hi" on a dating app. You have to ask questions that lead to actual conversations. Think about it, where will the conversation with just "hi" go? "Hi" "Hi" "What's up?" "Nothing"...........Just fucking say something. "Hi! How's it going? You seem like you're really into the outdoors. I go hiking/camping/other outdoor activity all the time. Have you ever tried ______?" There. At least you've opened the door for a conversation, instead of letting any potential die because you could only think to say "hi" 🙃
"But I have social anxiety!" As someone who also has social anxiety, nothing is worse than being on the receiving end of a "hi." What do they want? Why are they texting me? How long should I wait before texting back? Do they actually want to talk to me or will they let the conversation die if I don't respond? Were they just bored? Was the text a mistake? What am I supposed to say besides "hi" back? "What's up?" But if they say "Nothing," what am I supposed to say after that? I am the master of overthinking.
Obviously every relationship is different. Not everything fits into a neat little box, but there are times when "hi" is not going to work for you, and you can't sit there wondering why you're being ghosted if you're not actually saying anything.
Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don’t know, that gaslight gatekeep girlboss meme, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you think modern feminism has been co-opted by corporations. But what you don’t know is that that meme is not from Instagram, it's not from Twitter, it's not from Tiktok, it’s actually from Tumblr. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that in January 2021, Tumblr user missnumber1111 posted, "today's agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss." And then I think it was a-m-e-t-h-y-s-t-r-o-s-e, wasn’t it, who reblogged it with an image of the phrase edited over a piece of "Live, Laugh, Love" wall art? And then gaslight gatekeep girlboss showed up in the feeds of eight different Twitter repost accounts. Then it filtered down through Instagram and then trickled on down into some tragic “alt side of Tiktok” where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that meme represents millions of notes and countless Tumblr users and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from Tumblr when, in fact, you’re wearing the meme that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of “stuff.”
I swear this is how I feel every time I see a Tumblr screenshot out in the wild
My old person take today is that I feel like people have normalized being on your phone every single moment including when you're spending "quality" time with others so much that they're defensive if someone isn't ok with it. Yes, you have a problematic relationship with your phone and social media if you physically cannot put it down for a couple of hours to like, have dinner with your friends. It's a show of respect for other people's time and energy as well as important to be present and connect with people around you. Your parents who told you no phone at the table were right for that one.

In an ideal world, the Shadowhunters tv show would have included a Malcolm Fade cameo, and in a funny world, he would have been played by Jamie Campbell Bower.
The House of Hades audiobook is an amazing experience because we get a new narrator for the first time and he gives Nico a surfer bro accent and makes Piper a Valley Girl 🤣 bro didn't understand the assignment but that's ok, because it's funny.
You know Pluribus was created by a man because women know that no woman would write multiple 500+ page romantasy books that she secretly despises. The fact that a woman who wrote a beloved romantasy series looks down on her audience (especially when they give her thoughtful handmade gifts), and disrespects any book she deems "not serious enough" is fucking insane. Authors getting tired of a long running series, or phoning in a book or two to pay the bills is understandable, but this is completely different. This would be like if Sarah J Maas or Rebecca Yarros or Cassandra Clare secretly hated their all their books and wished the fanbase would go die in a ditch for reading such drivel.
Vince Gilligan is also vastly out of tune with the youth reading culture if he assumes people wouldn't be lining up in droves to read a lesbian fantasy pirate romance series.
They’ve said in interviews (Both Rhea and Vince) that Carol doesn’t hate her books she hates herself and she’s trying to beat her audience to the punch by saying they’re shitty books and she hates them and she hates her audience. But she doesn’t hate her books or her audience she actually loves them that’s why she wrote so many of them but because her self hatred is so deep and well rooted within her she’s projecting it. She loves her books. She loves her fans. But she’s too traumatized and depressed and stuck in a well of self hatred to admit that. Also it’s not that Carol doesn’t think people would never want to read a lesbian pirate series. It’s that she would have to be out of the closet to write one. People would probably find out she’s a lesbian. And Carol has been in the closet for like. Decades. Shes terrified of being outed. That’s why she did the whole George Clooney lie and the feminine clothing at her book signing. This is all confirmed by the wardrobe person she said she dressed Carol feminine on purpose for the book signing bevause of her fear of being outed and Rhea has talked about how Carol is living a closeted life.
Also Pluribus was not just created by a man many women are involved. One of the Pluribus producers is a woman Jen Carroll and she’s very involved in the show (and she’s awesome in interviews) and they have women in the writers room and at every level of production. Vince made a writers room to create Pluribus with people he loved and trusted and has been working with since Breaking Bad.
@kendrysaneela I feel like in the first few episodes, she very much does hate her romantasy books (or at least what they've become). I generally don't watch interviews because I feel like you should be able to communicate these things through the show without having to clarify. At that point, it feels like they're just trying to make Carol more likable or sympathetic or relatable. And that's not really necessary, because I love Carol! It's just her attitude towards her writing in the first couple episodes that bother me.
Carol really does talk smack and roll her eyes at her fans. It doesn't matter to me that she's projecting her self hatred, she's still being an asshole to both Helen and her fans in the first episode. No interview can make me feel sorry for her for that. I know she hates herself. I know she has deep rooted lesbian trauma. The point of this post was that it's a massive pet peeve of mine when media makes characters hate their work (especially when it comes to women writing in a genre that is already looked down on) and be shitty about it to everyone else.
I truly hate the "authors bad mouthing their fun fantasy books and their fans because they think they should be writing more "serious" things. But the important thing is that eventually she falls back in love with them by the end of the series, which made up for a lot. Yes I know there are women involved, I'm just using Vince as the poster boy because he's the main credited creator. He's the one everyone points to when they say "Oh yeah, there's a new Vince Gilligan show." This was not an invitation for an "Um actually" addition.
Also, I still really want to read that lesbian pirate fantasy romance series....

I'm late to the Pluribus party, but does anyone want to mention how Carol was left alone in the desert for 40 days? Someone in that writers room is a Catholic with a sense of humor 😆
This started off as a haha funny post but the more I think about it, the more insane I become about the possible way the next season could go.
Carol was left to wander the desert for 40 days. She was "tempted by the devil" but ultimately leaves the show back with her priorities in order.
You know what happens after Lent? Easter. We know Carol has access to the atomic bomb. Is this going to end in her sacrificing herself to bring the world back to normal? Dying for our sins so to speak? Because the world is objectively worse without the Joining, but wouldn't it be worth it to save everyone's souls?
There are 12 other people who weren't affected by the Joining. Jesus had the 12 apostles. But the Peruvian girl whose name I can't remember right now ended up Joining. Is she an allergy for Judas? Or will there be another kind of betrayal next season? I'm so sane and normal about this 🙃
