***All these links are for YouTube and are watchable as of October 2021. Since this list is for classic films it includes some countries that no longer exist. Not every country is included here because not every country had a film industry or has films available on YouTube. A few countries have two films listed because I couldnât pick between the two. I recommend looking up any film on here that you watch as a lot of them have very interesting backstories. âNo subsâ means no English subtitles. They may have subtitles in other languages.
Please donât let a lack of subtitles stop you from trying a movie from another country. Movies, especially silent ones, can be understood and enjoyed regardless of language barriers! <3
June 2026
June is my last month at this job. I will be done at the end of this week. It's been good having a date for the end of my contract, although that doesn't mean I wasn't both bored and angry the entire time. I'm still bored and angry, like I won't feel free of this job until I'm out the door on Friday.
I thought I might stay unemployed for a bit, the job market being as it is, but a sub-contractor mentioned an interesting job opportunity at his wife's workplace, so we'll see. I would prefer a couple of months of unemployment before I find a new job, but I'll take whatever.
What else happened in June? I read, I think, nineteen books, beating my old record of seventeen. It's getting to a point where I'm starting to think I should read less and watch more films, because of the money this is costing me.
Some writing was also done. Not much. I wrote a short story with which I am not very satisfied, and I kept writing my autobiography and my longer story. Made some slow progress. I was able to write pretty much the whole month, although lately the heat has been stopping me from writing at home.
Can we talk about the heat? I've never seen anything like it. It's not even July yet and we've been through two massive heatwaves. And to think that this is the coldest summer of the rest of our lives...
Anyway so I'll probably still end up unemployed at home this summer, in which case I'll need to find a way to make writing happen regardless of the weather.
Had a dream last night that I renamed this account "ratseyes" (after the band Cat's Eyes) and picked "'cause you're the worst person I know" for a title.
My dreams have been speaking to me very clearly of late. First they told me to read Milena by Margarete Buber-Neumann, which I am reading now (I'd heard about it before, dreamy me didn't pull the book out of thin air). Then yesterday they told me to listen again to "Hall of Mirrors" by The Distillers. Both excellent recommendations.
"Diver," 2026. Photo transfers onto cotton, freshwater pearls, fish hook, thread, colored pencil, gloss medium, gloss gel. dimensions: slightly smaller than my hand :)

May 2026
Another month.
I did some writing, although I also did some giving up on writing towards the end of the month. I had to let my story rest, for one thing (even though it should be done resting now), and for another working on my autobiography is always hard. But I'm making progress! Connections are being made! The hard thing is to keep writing as I wait to be more "inspired" (as I wait for things to get easier again).
Made it through the many holidays of May and I'm back to working four-day weeks now, poor me. But I've only got twenty days left at this job now, so I suppose it's OK. Being unemployed for a bit will do me good, even though the money will be tighter. I will be able to write more, read more, start exercising regularly again. I hope I won't get too depressed too quickly.
Anyway the summer heat is already here. Let's get ready for three months of melting and stewing.
