Matt: This 16 millimetre footage that Jared shot around the city, in my opinion, is what ties the whole film together. Jared: And I can't believe it stayed. It's one of those things where when we were doing it, I was like, this is gonna be the most beautiful thing we could possibly shoot for this movie, and there's no way it's making it in. Jay: And it shows all, it's a foreshadowing of all the-- Matt: It's every single location that the-- Jay: --locations. It's beautiful. Matt: --movie takes place in if you watch it, almost in order, and, so, you're watching this and I--I think for us, we were trying to be like, okay, let's try to show what Toronto looks like... to an audience that is gonna be wondering, "well, why are they showing us this?" And, then, as you--because the film doesn't have establishing shots, right? Like, the way that Jared shoots is, he's always going into the close-up, which means we can never really show environments. And, because the city's so beautiful, it was like, oh, well, here's a way that we can actually show wides of every single place the film uh-uh, takes place in-- Jared: And, the philosophy changed because when we first were shooting it, we were like, "we should look for best friends", and I remember, uh, we were shooting all these duos, and then we realized-- Matt: You--they might've--they might've misheard you as saying "best frames". Jared: Best friends. Matt: Yeah, best friends. Jared: Best friends, like buddies, and then at a certain point we were watching the footage and went "no, it's the people". Matt: It's the people, yeah. Jared: It's the people, and it's the city, and just sh--it's just the people. Matt: Yeah. Jared: The true stars of the movie.
