Time of Day and Shaders comparisons @ Whale Fall Amphitheater at Driftwood Wharf

Manta Ray inspired amphitheater framed by mysterious pillars that resemble ribs.

During construction of the amphitheater, a unique ecosystem was uncovered beneath the layers of fossilized coral. A geode-like cavity of sculk and dead coral housed several families of axolotl, a type of mole salamander. It is unclear for how long the axolotl survived in the isolated pocket and even more of a mystery as to how ... A retaining tank with reinforced tinted glass was added to prevent further disturbance of the delicate ecosystem. Construction of the amphitheater continued after plans were scaled down. Today, the amphitheater is open to the public showcasing small comedy shows and intimate musical performances.

Developing the custom biome around Driftwood Wharf

What should I call this biome? The coastal biomes in Minecraft are pretty basic, like "Beach" and "Stony Shore". What about a Coastal Forest?

This used to be a village, Right? It's very, very detailed now. It's got all these custom buildings. Basically, a whole biome is being built, you know, tide pools and all this kind of neat stuff that I'm really proud of building. But there is one thing that proves a village was, in fact here. That is this. I was going to add extend the pathway right here, but I decided not to because I realized that once I break this, I can't replace it again.

So this solves a few things. One, it solves the lighting problem that I have, specifically dead center of the garden. Dead center of this like garden area. I, I don't know what else to call it besides that. The dead center of this little mini forest. I have a lighting issue right? I can't, you know, I don't want to put a lantern there because then I just have a lantern dead center for no reason. And I don't want to put lichen there a ton of lichen because and then I'll have a checkerboard of lichen in that whole area. And I think that's kind of boring. So I think a more interesting and more like environmental storytelling opportunity that we have is to put a lamppost that has fallen down with the tree in this area as well, and to kind of like make that lamp posts really stick out. I also group the grasses away from where that lamppost falls to kind of like imply that it destroyed a bit of the foliage there or like the grasses are growing away from that lamppost. It's one of those things where, like I can tell you deliberately that, yes, this lamppost obviously for you, the viewer, I'm going to tell you deliberately that, yes, a lamppost was here and it fell over along with the tree. But for anybody who visits, I hope that it's kind of just one of those quiet details that you may or may not notice. You know, it's kind of like little things that maybe you don't catch it if you're walking through the area and maybe you do. I don't know. It doesn't really matter whether you do or you don't, but it's something that has a purpose regardless. And it's probably my favorite detail in this whole area is that there's a fallen lamppost that was taken down by the tree.
