The girlâs words struck her as stunningly calm in contradiction to what it seemed the entire rest of the school was discussing. It felt like the confessions were still most peopleâs focus, even as they grew accustomed to the words scribbled across chests. But her shoulders moved in a small shrug, gesturing towards the seat across from her. âYouâre welcome to it.âÂ
A brief pause followed as she glanced over the girl, noticing first the green of her Slytherin tie, followed by three simple words across her chest. Fair enough. Being alone was something Roxanne considered herself an unwitting expert in, a position she both loathed and reluctantly accepted. Her eyes reverted back to the DADA book, skimming over the words and actually processing about half of them, too wrapped up in her own mind to quite think it through. I donât have time for this.Â
Finally, she sighed and pushed the book away, giving her tired eyes a few moments rest. âSo, uh, whatâre you workinâ on?âÂ
Katie nodded, and slight smile on her face in appreciation as she sat down and set her books on the table. The one on top was a textbook for her Ancient Runes class, so she grabbed that one and opened it to pages filled with symbols. She was just taking out her parchment and quill when she heard the girl across from her ask her a question, to which she looked up, surprised to see the other seemed to have given up for the time being.Â
Tilting up her textbook so the other girl could see the cover, Katie smiled. âAdvance Rune Translation, itâs really interesting actually. To think that some ancient magic was recorded as these symbols and some people might have looked them over as nothing but pictures.â Katie had the habit of getting excited over anything historical, and she knew it was starting to show in her voice now.Â
âIâd love to go travelling and see some for myself, maybe even discover new ones, though thatâs a bit ambitious,â she admitted, blushing slightly. âWhat were you working on?âÂ
