Misinformation may cause you to gain weight
Dear diary,
I've found great comfort in this safe space but I often find when going through posts that some lovingly meaning people spread unfortunate facts about weightloss that gives me pause. There are a few tips and truths I would like to share to anyone who is following advice that doesn't seem to be working for them.
1. Unless you wear a heart rate monitor, you have to take what you burn with a grain of salt. And even heartrate monitors have been shown to over estimate calorie expenditure up to 20%. Take that as you will, but as someone who's lost over 100 pounds, this is absolutely true and thus why I no longer eat back my workout calories. I often see posts that say do 100 jumping jacks and bun 100 calories. The number of calories burned will vary from person to person. According to MyFitnessPal, jumping jacks can burn about eight calories per minute for a person weighing 120 pounds and up to 16 calories per minute for someone weighing 250 pounds. Again, those are estimates, so please be careful trying to work off that donut or eat back extra, you may be accidentally sabotaging yourself.
2. Nutrition labels can lie. Yes, scary I know, but nutritional labels can be up to 20% inaccurate, according to the FDA guidelines. That means, for example, that a serving of Greek yogurt labeled to contain 100 calories could actually weigh in at 80 to 120 calories. If possible, weigh your food and read labels diligently. Even better, stick to real food like vegetables, fruit, meats and fish. Weigh them and know what you are truly putting in your body. You would be surprised that your version of teaspoon is not exactly 5ml.
3. Low fat is good for you. This is one of the biggest lies perpetuated by corporations who make money on carbs and processed food. Fat and Protein are imperative not only for weightloss but your entire body. You need fat for your brain to work properly. You need fat and protein for hair. You need fat and protein for your nails and your skin. Fat and protein make you feel fuller longer. Replacing carbs and fat with protein can boost your metabolism and reduce appetite and cravings, all while optimizing the function of some weight-regulating hormones (which if you are fasting often, you will need!)
I know there is so much information out there and its all conflicting but be sure to do your research. Don't take my word for it.
Please know I love you all and just want to see you at your best. You deserve to be skinny and feel good at the same time. You deserve not to struggle.
With Love,
Deathodil
I owe my body so many apologies
Iâm moving through the Somatic trauma releasing program. I wonât call it a workout because physically itâs not that. I have found it stress relieving. I have been doing it later in the evening before bed. Iâve found myself feeling lighter in general.
Thereâs a trauma releasing exercise where you write down 4 traumatic experiences and then burn the paper they are on. I didnât feel anything momentous in the moment but we shall see if I continue to feel lighter in general.
Soon it moves into the jaw and neck release and if they improves the quality of my mobility it will be worth it to me.
Itâs 11:30 pm. Iâve been laying in bed for 2 hours and my mind is refusing to sleep. Instead itâs overthinking about my back flab and saggy arms and momma pouch. Iâm fighting the urge to go work out in my living room while my 3 children and fiancĂŠ sleep because I know 5 am will come fast and I will be so tired... but fuck do I wanna be skinny so bad...
reblog if you need to lose 40 pounds (18kg) or more

problems of anas starting at an actual obese weight
-your lowest weight is other peoples highest.
-people never noticing that you donât eat due to your weight.
-ACTUALLY being medically fat, not just feeling fat.
-having legitimate problems working out (knees canât handle all the weight, asthma, etc)
-âyou probably shouldnât eat that, should you?â when taking your first bite of a remotely unhealthy food in MONTHS.
-losing over 70lbs and still not be close to âthinâ.
-thinner anas looking down on you because youâre not skinny enough. (actually happened)
-thinner anas telling you to âstop starving yourselfâ or âturn back before you get sickâ when youâve actually been doing this longer than them.
-MORE SIDE EFFECTS!
-being petty and offended when people half your size call themselves fat in front of you, well knowing you weigh twice as much as them. (this is a personal problem but still)
-actually being happy to be at a NORMAL weight for once.Â
-âMY BMI IS FINALLY UNDER 25!â
-lower chances of actually hitting your ugw because your body literally canât lose more.
-LOOSE SKIN. L O T S OF IT.Â
-knowing youâve lost more than most of the fellow anas, but not being able to talk about it because your cw isnât low enough just yet.
so shoutout to all the bigger people with anorexic tendencies, because they deserve way more. because theyâve gone through this pain for so long without enough recognition. because within the ana community, theyâre often not even acknowledged. because THEY ARE VALID TOO.Â
i started at over 250lbs and hit my first plateau at 149, so i do have a right to complain, thank you very much. (iâm just over 5â˛4. just imagine.)
Fucking this omg
