(KMKY) Favorite Character, Era, Joke, Scene, and Billford Moment:
I love Pyronica for so many reasons. Her and Bill have lots in common, but what sticks out the most for me is that both their morals and values, from what started off as good, have been contorted for the purpose of reaching their goals. Pyronica almost succumbs to this by betraying Bill after the discovery of her ‘deal’; but she doesn’t. She decides that she is grateful for the friendship she has with him. By doing this, she proves him wrong of his insecurities — ‘If I can’t offer them anything in exchange, why would they stay with someone like me?’
I think it was for the best to have her and Bill split up. After all, Bill wasn’t the only one using Weirdmageddon as an excuse to run away from his problems — and they have been spending millennia feeding into each other’s delusions. It was high time that cycle ended for the both of them.
Another thing I love so much about this fic is that it will constantly remind you who Bill is (or what he vehemently believes he is — a monster.) What bibliosphere era tells me is that Ford alone cannot change Bill. It’s lies scrambling lies. Bill’s refusal to change and open up about his past leads Ford to conclude that maybe Bill is just a monster, being given no reason to believe otherwise. Because when it comes to the Euclidean Massacre, there are three sides to every story: yours, mine, and the truth. In this case, nobody knows the truth, you believe that you’re guilty, and so does everybody else. Absolutely fucking helpless.
This is literally one of the LONGEST running gags in the fic, and it gets me every time. The joke costs AN ENTIRE CHARACTER to be removed from the story and I find that so funny. Most of the time, Hectorgon gets sent to the dimension of eternal screams for asking a very simple question that happens to include Ford. And I know it’s unreasonable treatment, but at some point you should learn to stop questioning Bill. But like a dog incapable of learning any tricks, he never does.
‘How there really is no force worse in all of existence, no power so great and terrible, nothing as life saving and cataclysmic as being truly known by someone else.’ This is why Bill fell in love with Stanford. Ford saw something in Bill that he himself hadn’t seen — his capability of being loved and of loving. And with this discovery, Bill is forced to re-think everything. The outcome of his goals, the consequences of his actions, everything. This ending is so perfect, I cannot stress that enough.
Literally face-palming. I love whenever Ford stops sleeping and taking care of his hygiene. He wanted Bill back SO BAD in this scene.
The beginning of something beautiful, amen.
