Having a fun outing with Frank and just running around your downtown, doing whatever there is to do in the small town

Saturday Night - Frank Iero x Reader
warnings: none! highschool au
When Frank had offered to take you out for a night you thought sure he was joking. But eventually, Saturday night came and you spotted the headlights of his car outside of your house. You wouldn't admit it outright, but you really tried to look good for tonight, for him in specific. On previous dates, it was like talking to a brick wall, but you'd known Frank for years, so you had high hopes. A couple minutes pass and he spots you finally come out, locking the front door behind you and rushing off to the car. Frank's car smelled interesting to say the least, but you just shrugged it off, not particularly wanting to ask him what else he does in here.
"Can't believe that you didn't completely ditch me" Frank said quietly while pulling out of your short driveway, "Why would I do that?" You asked him. He paused momentarily, "I don't know, just had a feeling" You chuckled a little, "Well your little 'feeling' was wrong." You turned up the car radio attempting to make it seem like there wasn't just a giant wall of silence between you two. The song playing was TV Casualty by the Misfits, you'd only recognized this song because of how much Frank would play their music around you when you guys would hang out, ever since before high school. The drive downtown was more awkward than you'd expected, but, around 10 minutes pass and you'd arrive at the local record store.
When you'd both gotten out of the car you decided to ask the question that had been bugging you for the last 15 minutes, "Something wrong?" Frank shrugged as he opened the store door for you and himself, "No, just don't have much to say. I like being around you." You'd gotten a little flustered at his comment, flashing him a bashful smile then walking off to the back of the store looking at the vinyls. "Oh they got new ones in!" Frank exclaimed from behind you, looking at the freshly wrapped records. "Don't you already have most of these?" You giggled as he continued flipping through the new selection. "Probably" he said. You turned back around to look at the section labeled 'B' searching for a Bikini Kill record that you'd been looking for. Ah! There it was, 'The Singles'
You pulled the white record out, just then Frank turned around and looked over your shoulder "I'm convinced that this is the only band that you listen to at this rate" he chuckled. "That's not true! I listen to basically everything that you listen to as well-" you cut off your sentence as you noticed how close he was behind you, no matter how long you'd known him for, you'd still get all flustered occasionally. I mean, who can blame you? He giggled and moved from behind you, looking at God knows what records that he doesn't need. Around 20 minutes had passed without you two even noticing, goofing around looking at the records and making fun of some of them as well. "You wanna buy that?" He asked you pointing to the bikini kill record in your hands. "I think you already know the answer to that", "right, right. I'll pay for it for you."
When you were done paying, you guys went back to his, now freezing, car. January in New Jersey was never fun, but it was as long as you were with Frank for the evening. "You hungry?" He asked while turning the heat on, which came as a relief. "Actually I am." You responded truthfully. "Want to go to the Chinese place?" He knew, he always knew. The downtown Chinese takeout was your absolute favorite restaurant ever since you met the boy when you were barely in middle school. You smiled and nodded at him, he chuckled as he started to pull out of the record store's parking lot.
During the short commute to the restaurant, you'd catch yourself smiling to yourself unintentionally. He really did notice what you like, it may seem very small but no one really ever stayed Frank's friend for a while unlike you. To know that he actually listened to you and valued your friendship meant a lot. "Why are you smiling so much?" He asked suddenly with a slight laugh. "I don't know, I'm just happy to be around you." You repeated his words to you from earlier. Suddenly, he took his right hand off of the steering wheel and took your freezing hand into his. It wasn't very rare for him to show physical affection towards you, but this time it felt more special, more intimate. There was something more between you two, and it wasn't the usual brick wall like your previous dates with guys. However, you both knew well that there was something more than just simple friendship there, but neither of you brought it up out of fear of ruining your long term friendship.
After you'd arrive at the Chinese restaurant, he grabbed you one of his jackets from the backseat. "I didn't even have to ask you for that" you said amused. "Your hands are freezing, do you want to get hypothermia or something?" He said with a chuckle. You put the warm jacket on as you both stepped out of the toasty car out into the cold weather. "Better?" He asked. "Yeah of course." He took your hand in his again as you both walked into the restaurant that was fairly empty. Anyone who didn't know you would've thought that you two were a couple, but you two didn't care.
While at the table he talked a lot about his new band, My Chemical Romance. He had been in so many bands it was hard to keep up with half the time, but regardless you still listened to him ramble on about his band mates, the new demos, local venues, and so on. You'd filled in on bass a couple times for his old band Pencey Prep's shows, so you had a general idea of what he was talking about as far as shows go.
"You know, I really think this band is gonna be 'the one', you know what I mean?" He says mid chew. You nodded, he had said this before about his previous bands but he seemed more serious this time, of course you'd always support him even if he was wrong about it being 'the one' or not.
As you two sat In the restaurant until almost closing time, you'd both realize that wether you both are just friends, dating, something in the middle, you both just had a kind of bond that was almost inseperable. You both always listened to what the other was talking about no matter if you knew what they were even talking about or not. Under his punk, angsty look, his unexpected kindness and soft of 'softness' towards you was very special to you, not a lot of guys liked you romantically or even platonically. But they didn't matter, because you both had each other to go out with in the meantime before you two finally decide to confess to eachother.
(first post! I don't really like this that much but oh well! I tried to make it cute, and I promise I will improve as these go on ๐ ty for the request!)
