here’s my problem with the Strong Female Character idea
the assumption that all others are Weak
This, exactly. There’s nothing wrong with being quiet, or shy, or gentle, or awkward; it doesn’t in any way make you less interesting or worthy of narrative attention. Writing women as people rather than Women means valuing them for all that they are and can be, rather than privileging physical toughness or the ability to make others fall at your feet. Let’s see well-written women, whether they’re strong or not.
