Believe me, it was horror. But I was okay with SOME of the fashion. Other than that? It was like Nightmare on Elm Street except I wasn’t out of the nightmare when I woke up. I was living it for what seemed like years.

Hey, it was not that great of a movie. Ashton Kutcher was cute though. That was literally the only reason I wanted to watch. I like the moderns too! Star Wars is still a guilty pleasure of mine, and surpassingly enough, the older ones aren’t my favorite. It’s Berry, if I stubbed my toe, I think she would have gone full fledge panic mode. It’s what she does to people. Sounds like maybe I should pass. Someone in my mind sifting through my memories…sounds absolutely delightful.

Of course you were, you already dress like a grandma. I’m sure no one realized you didn’t belong there. 

Why some people seem to wet themselves over star wars is something I’ll never understand. Seriously, what is it about?

I was worried for a little while that they might close down the shelter, since we sorta disappeared off the face of the earth, you know?  But I sent that pigeon I’ve been feeding to go check it out last week, and apparently everything’s still running really smoothly.  Which is awesome, there’s not many shelters in the city that houses raccoons and squirrels.  Hey! There was only 1 shower raccoon, and he only did it cause he knew he was stinking up the apartment!

Exactly, have you seen those dancer’s bodies?!  Anyone who takes that up has to be jacked.  That’s passed my mind a few times as well, they seem like a group that wouldn’t give up in their goal. And really…who else could it be?

A little.  The problem is, I really want them to help us cause like…helping us could help save them, you know?  And mine is so young…I really hope I get to her.  I’m gonna think of it like my very first mentoring job.

Well that’s good to know, at least. It’s been a couple of weeks since I last called my mother, I should probably make sure she knows everything’s still okay. Not being able to contact us must be killing her. You know how excited and nosey she was about the whole wedding planning.

One raccoon too many, Britt. Let’s forget about Richard.

I dunno, those purists have been quiet for years, it’s unlike them. I’m just probably being paranoid.

Yea, I agree.  After the whole purist incident with Franky in high school, I feel like we need to be super careful about who we share our powers with.  Damn, Macaroni is so much more interesting than Susan though.   But whatever, …I guess it works for now.  Especially with someone who seems as badass and distant as my interviewee does.

That is exactly what the shelter was for. And it’s working great, the animals are being taken care of, and I don’t have to suffer with raccoons in my shower anymore.

That is definitely useful. I’m sure whoever does poledancing is a mad gymnast anyway.

I wonder if that bitch and her old pals are behind this whole thing again. Wouldn’t be a surprise. Are you nervous about it? I think you could charm anyone but, I think if someone doesn’t want our help it won’t matter how well we do. I’ve accepted that tons of people will say “no” to us.

You think that’d help? I don’t know she’s kind of a light sleeper. You just know she’d wake up and feel there’s indecency going on in the apartment. You know when I think about it, Division was one of the big reasons I finally decided to accept my feelings for you, so really I pretty much owe everything to this stupid place. Our lives could’ve been wildly different without it. Maybe I’d still be bearding.

Well it can be just like that now, Britt. Just gotta make sure Rachel doesn’t walk in on us. She’s not getting a free show. I know, and trust met, we’re not gonna choose those with “useful” powers. We’ll make sure to mix it up a bit.

Believe it or not- this isn’t the first time I’ve had a file. I think it might be the third or fourth, but I do love having one. Let’s me know that people notice me, but for the reasons I want them to notice me. Well, maybe not in this case, actually definitely not in this case.

I think it would have been worse if I had no idea that I could do this, this thing. It’s a lot easier to cope with when you know you’re not normal, that your life has never been normal and things have been a little sketchy. That or learning I have a fucking superpower means I’m not easily surprised anymore. 

I didn’t think you were kidding about that, not a lot of people tell others they’re in danger for the fun of it. So trust me, I know. I know this isn’t a game, this is real life and I’ve been running for years now because of this. So now I’m faced with two options because I’m frankly tired of running, fend for myself, try not to fuck up and be in immediate danger. Or, join this thing, learn to control whatever I have, and be with people who will make that danger a little less immediate. Either way you look at it, my life is threatened. 

I said it before and I said it again, this-… Division? Is that what you call it? You can count me in. 

Exactly. I’m sure they’ll work with someone else. I actually have a friend who’s currently single, you’ll meet her soon enough. She’s a handful.

We’ve all been there.

Well, this might be the happiest a man has ever made me. We know it won’t be easy, but just having people backing you up on this is a huge morale boost to keep going. Congratulations, James, you’re officially our first recruit. Thanks to one of our technopath friends we will be able to communicate with you without risking getting caught, so we’ll inform you soon when you can begin training. 

For now just...try to enjoy the few days of freedom you’ve left.

Believe me, if I knew how to prevent it, I would have. I’m not a big fan of the 60s. I was, trapped in my own personal hell of Lima in the 60s. Imagine that. No, don’t imagine that. ever.

Oh come on, a classic? Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink are classics. Butterfly Effect? It’s mediocre at best. But I did learn everything I needed to know about time travel that way. Sad isn’t? I…can’t remember. Rachel said that she’s going to set me up with a doctor from Division. I have bits and pieces actually. I remember meeting a guy, we were friends, he was…like us. But as much as I tried, I couldn’t save him. I don’t even remember what I was trying to save him from. Or who. Just that I needed to. In the end, it didn’t work. And maybe I wasn’t supposed to.

Between the racism and sexism, sounds like a horror movie already. Not even one of the good ones.

Don’t make me slap you, Fabray. You can have your old and boring movies, I like something a little more modern. Of course Rachel is already all over you. She’s right though, someone there will be able to help you with that. I’m pretty sure we have someone who can enter your mind and check out what you’re missing. That’s pretty badass, not going to lie, like you said sounds like a good thing to have when you’re pissed off and want people to know just how pissed off you are. Well shit, that- is it weird that all of that had brought me a little clarity. Because before I didn’t have an idea, I thought I was alone in this and I’ve moved so much because I accidentally fucked up and revealed myself in some way. But to know that all of this is happen, it make things a little clearer. 

Though, I’m not sure I like the whole I’m in danger thing and frankly it sounds like this is your way of recruiting me. If I’m wrong, let me know. But if I’m not, I’m in. I’m tried of running and I’d like to be able to control whatever this is that I can do- if it means taking down some bad guys in the process, well, it’ll make me feel like Tom Cruise and who wouldn’t want to feel that way. 

Alright, first thing you need to know about me, besides the fact that I possess undeniable sex appeal, is that I have zero interest in sausage. 

You do have a file. Just regular, basic information, not nearly as big as mine for example. Since you never became a recruit.

I know it’s-- a lot to take in. Hell, I wouldn’t even know what to do if someone came to me and drop this bomb. I guess it’s sorta helps that you felt something was wrong to begin with. 

Uh--no, I want to be very clear that I’m being honest about the danger part. We don’t wanna fool anyone into helping us without them knowing everything. This isn’t...some sort of cool game. It could threaten your life. We do want your help, and we are trying to get as many people as possible to get back control of division and stop this ‘witch hunt’ against us.

Luckily, since you’re already here in New York, if you really want to join us, you can start training right away. So...you still in?

Exactly like that. I can manipulate electricity, I can make it go ‘boom’. It’s a great power to have when people piss you off. Very well. Open minded, I’ll have to write that down--somewhere...Anyway, I’ll just start from the beginning. Like way back before either of us were born. 

Okay first thing: Some weirdos thought it would a good idea to experiment on people, in order to develop super abilities, unfortunately that means our parents were either too dumb or too poor and went along with it. They never saw the effects of that experiment, but we did. That’s why you are able to do illusions.

There’s a place... where all us misfits and freaks were able to be “safe” from those who were trying to hunt us down because of our nature. It was called division. Those who were recruited, were given the skills to control their powers.

Unfortunately someone--really bad dude--managed to infiltrate the organization, and is using all the resources to capture mutants, locking them away for god knows what. Division keeps track of everyone born with abilities, whether they are recruited or not. So that means, you and hundreds of other people are likely to be the next victim.
