And Pim, what’s YOUR relationship with Charlie outside of work?
Charlie? Well he's a great friend! Being part of a small company means I spend a lot of time with my coworkers, especially Charlie since we're the field team.
He's shown me a lot of games that I never really looked into. Just recently he called up a friend to run a Dungeons and Dragons oneshot with the whole office! I had a lot of fun.
Hey guys, it’s your mod here. I want us to sit down and have a serious discussion. I know Mr. Boss usually uses the plain text, but for this post its going to be me.
Before we get too far, I want to warn you that I will be talking about topics such as self harm, suicide, and other mental health issues. If you aren't equipped to handle this, please scroll by.
I'd like to start off by reminding you that despite the name, this is a fan account for smiling friends. My thoughts, views, and posts do not represent or reflect that of the actual smiling friends show and it's creators/employees.
I am also not a licensed mental health professional. I have never studied this field. I can only talk from my own experiences. So understand that while i might give advice or whatnot, it is not coming from a professional. Just someone on the internet who wants to help.
With that out of the way, since I took over for the old moderator, there have been a few concerning asks coming into the box. Some of these I won't answer publicly because of how sensitive these topics are. But to those anons, I want you to know that you are not alone. There are people who love and care about you. And even if you think there is no one, I know that while I'm not someone you know, I do know that the world is a brighter place with you in it.
Hurting yourself is never the answer. I know how tempting it can be to do things to yourself, even if its something not as permanent as suicide. You might harm yourself for a sense of control when you feel like you have none. I get that, but it's not the right way. Hurting yourself, it's not treating yourself with the kindness and love that each and every one of you deserve. I know it can be hard to stop, but there are resources out there. There is help. You're not alone.
For those that are in immediate crisis and in the United States of America:
9-8-8 is the suicide and crisis line
Text HOME to 741741 for the crisis text line
1-866-488-7386 for the Trevor lifeline (for LGBTQ+ youth)
1-877-565-8860 for the trans lifeline.
You're not alone. And if it is any condolence, all the boys at the Smiling Friends love you guys. They'd be sad if any of you were to go before your time.
Before I go, I want to leave you with a bit of reading that's helped me when I'm on the fence. Its called Suicide: The Forever Decision. It's by Dr. Paul G. Quinnett, a clinical psychologist. I've read through it a couple of times, and it's helped me rationalize things. I have it linked on the blue underlined words.
I love you all, I hope you're ok. Regular posting again tomorrow
I’ve been feeling down for a while, and you often cheer me up. You’re so good at your job!! Can you maybe come and gimme a hug?? Please and thank you :]
Since the Smiling Friends took a break last weekend, Pim and I decided to go on a little hike together! It was nice to be able to spend some quality time with each other (and I think he needed the break lol)
He’s now refreshed and ready to get back at it this coming Sunday! Have a great week everyone!
