u should be here for enjoyment, nerding out, and community! not for a harmful perfectionism that puts realistic performance down, for romanticising a colonial institution (or, maybe worse, ignoring that that is what universities are), for perpetuating the idea that knowledge has to lead to work and productivity for an economic system that doesnt care if most people live or die
im sick of all the hustle bustle and grind posts on these online studying spaces tbh.
wheres the thirst? wheres the passion? or are we just gonna have another voyeuristic poverty slideshow? sincerely, the way some of you are just so openly classist here is so utterly bereft of all self awareness, dignity and compassion.
i love that learning is a social activity, that we work together towards the truth and build upon the work of others, and evolve ideas as they come and go.
capitalism: anti-social, anti-human, impossible infinite growth, turns the search for truth into a search for dominance, makes it so you have to do everything alone, against everyone else– dog eat dog, the complete opposite of how we got here in the first place, and destructive to the practice itself.
im really not doing much these days huh... i watched a lot of breaking bad, drew this kimi, made BANGING pad kra pao, played some online games with my gf, and that's about it
re my post on realistic studyblr, perfectionism, etc, if you need to hear it: i have a disability that affects my ability to do my work. i get disabled students allowance. i have a support worker at uni. i have to take mental health days and weeks off. sometimes i scrape a 2:1 or get a 2:2. my attendance is about 70%. i probably won't graduate with first class honors. sometimes i hate my degree. sometimes i prioritise fun with my friends over my work. there are people "better" than me in my classes. i don't know what i wanna do after my degree. stop this grindset hustle culture. it is okay to be imperfect and to just enjoy what you do
