Are Mul and Smoke OCs? Like, I know what they started as, but are they OCs now, or are they still fan things?

Tbh, they’re kind of their own thing now, I think. Sure, they started out as YouTuber -pliers and -eyes, but they’ve gone very off that [may not be obvious (or is very obvious), but they’ve changed a lot in my head]. Also I haven’t watched Mark or Jack in a long time. If I did, I’d probably have more references from their videos in more recent art [and maybe Smoke and Mul would be v different]… Even if I haven’t really drawn them recently. And tbh, Mul isn’t v Mark like isn’t he? Smoke as far as I know, yeah in a way, but Mul, nah.

I’m not sure if I want to change that actually, their origin. Have them be different people with… “coincidental” similarities on fears, personality, etc. At least on what I think Mark and Jack were like at the time that I made Mul and Smoke.

I’m just wondering if them being based off of the guys really made an impact on their character other than their initial design.I guess it was mostly the interaction I had with other people if I were to call it like that. A lot of people helped with their backstory/origin and more stuff like character building because of their involvement with youtube dudes. If I changed that, I’d feel bad, but also they’re my characters, so. Hmm.

Also, it’s kinda hard for me to really determine if they’re OC’s since their origin is based on fan stuff but they eventually become an OC? So what does that make them? Idk, I thought about that ages ago but still don’t have a completely clear answer for myself, but I think they’re not fan characters anymore.

TL;DR, because idk what I’m saying:They were fan characters, but now? I think they’re their own dudes.
