Nox tried to smile in response, a bit afraid it would look rather goofy, but tried anyway. No hurt in trying, right? “Oh, well then, thought I would better offer this.” She said, shrugging a little and still trying to make a somewhat solid smile. “Speaking of important things…”
She wasn’t sure what to actually ask. She wasn’t sure for how long she was dead to being with and how many ages had passed before something brought her back - the places she have seen while getting here, even it was a relatively short trip through the graveyard, looked nothing like what she remembered. Flames, even Shrine itself looked entirely different.
Could there be more Firelink Shrines? Or those are just ages passing and her memory slipping.
“What are those lands exactly? I haven’t ventured far by now, just got there, but it seems I was asleep for far too long. I don’t recognize any names or, well, anything…”
“Why, Lothric of course.” She replied with a small shrug “And more of course. It’s a rather large kingdom you see.” Her brows furrowed slightly in thought “I believe that won’t clarify much to you, considering you might have been gone for long.”
She sighed and motioned for the Seeker to follow before taking a seat in one of the many ash covered steps in the Shrine. She didn’t bother with being careful while sitting, the ash would soften any landing while making a cloud of the stuff too.
“This is where the lands of Lord’s converge. Or something like that. In reality, is just the newest kingdom building over the last one and so on for countless ages.” She explained and ran a hand through her snow white hair, equally pale eyes focusing on the Seeker “This Shrine, for example, it’s been here since the land was called Lordran. It’s changed quite a lot.”
“If you decide to go on with your duty, you may find out that many of the places you visit are the same of kingdoms past. They might look quite different, but some remain rather recognizable, such as Anor Londo. Some are new though.”
“Well, new to someone that has just rejoined the living. Technically living.” She laughed, a bark-like laugh that boomed across the Shrine “Congratulations on that by the way.”
She cackled. After all, laughing at the... technicalities of her state seemed for her to be a better choice then other options, usually narrowing to wallowing in self-pity or self-disgust.
“Thanks. Heh. So this is that Firelink Shrine after all. And Anor Londo is still standing! Well, not that I expected it to do not, but still... It would be interesting to see if I will be able to remember and recognize anything there”
She wasn’t sure why the slow understatement of how much time had passed and how many kingdoms could have rise and fall here in her absence felt akin to the weigh of a world suddenly falling on her shoulders, however it was.
The world was changing. Some said it was going to it’s end, some said if was just the end of another cycle, she never really cared to listen and she never really seemed to care, always on a move, rarely going back somewhere and now it was... Certainly a new thing to her.
“Don’t you happen to know anything about covenants that are now exist in those lands? Was any of the past ones be able to survive? The Way of White? Warriors of Sunlight? Blades?”
While trying to remember the exact names she heard ones, she thought about one more think she was really curious about:
“A wolf I have seen near and in the Shrine. Is it a friend of yours?”
