stuff about Power, Sharkilz's trident on Ocean SMP

OBVIOUSLY naming the trident "Power" is because it makes Sharkilz more powerful (go figure). But the way that there was a flashback to first meeting Sour right before naming the trident makes me think that he named the trident for something more. Something like the fact that Sour gave him the power to defeat the Fire Clan by giving him the stolen items. Plus, when Sharkilz got his hands on the trident as Sour was being held hostage, that's when he did everything in his power to not only defeat the clan but to save Sour. (And then he proceeds to kill Sour and take all the loot for himself, against his own will (but it was also very much for his own will))

Just rewatched ep2 and I love the symbolism with the trident Power. Every moment that power is mentioned, Power is shown. Being put into an environment where his Power is at a disadvantage, Sharkilz shows vulnerability. He has a physical disadvantage due to the trident not working well in the snowfall. He has a numerical disadvantage, having to fight alone against Dolphin and Sorta. He has a mental disadvantage; he doesn't know what he's truly doing out here. He shows his vulnerability throughout these Frozen Lands because he is stuck. Frozen. He's the "lost island". He's alone. And his want for Power becomes more and more scrambled as he stays here. He did his best to uphold his facade of wanting Power when talking to Dany, yet when Dolphin and Sharkilz stood there in the middle of nowhere, armorless, he couldn't hold back. Dolphin provided relatability and understanding, something that Sharkilz hadn't experienced yet as far as the viewer knows. He still tries to grasp onto the Power because that was all he knew how to follow. After fighting Loppezz, he tells her, "If that trident is important to you, you should keep it." And this plays an important role at the end of the video where Sharkilz lets go on his trident. He lets go of Power. He realized that Power wasn't important to him. He didn't need it.

Little (big) thing I just noticed about ocean smp ep 3 is the exchange in Power. Sharkilz realizes that Power is a gift, so he utilizes it in his fight with Swizu. Swizu, who has never seen someone use a trident before, finds that to be cheating. After some talk and understanding, Swizu realizes there's nothing inherently wrong with having Power. He sees how Sharkilz looks at the trident. When Sharkilz and Swizu defeat Rejoice, Sharkilz hands Swizu the trident, allowing Swizu to have utilize the Power as a gift as well. Swizu gets to embrace it just as how Sharkilz is embracing it. Additionally, this is also a character development for Sharkilz, who at the beginning of the episode was very needy about the trident. Now, he's starting to understand that he can also share that Power with others.

There's a bit of this "switch-up" between Sharkilz and SourSplash. At the beginning of the episode, Sharkilz wants to give Sour an explanation, but Sour doesn't want to listen. By the end of it, Sour wants an explanation (a real one) from Sharkilz but Shark is unable to say much.
Sharkilz starts learning how to love his gifts, such as Power, at the academy. He gains the confidence to find and talk to Sour again after spending time with Swizu, yet he doesn't expect to immediately be found by SourSplash. When they reunite, Sour goes in with the idea that he could just quickly take out Shark and send him to the Loop. Shark tries to talk to him because it's what he's been striving to do for the past month or so. When Sour stops fighting for the first time, he realizes that he can't quickly kill Sharkilz as he hoped. The realizes the bitterness and anger can now really be heard from his voice as he talks about his experience in the Loop.
Sharkilz's first thought is to give him an explanation over an apology.
As Sour unleashes more and more of his anger onto Sharkilz throughout the episode, Shark loses his confidence, his ability, to really explain anything to Sour. He shrinks back and is unable to give Sour an answer that would satisfy him, becoming sorrowful and fearful of what he has done and might do again. He gives Power up to SourSplash because he is afraid of it (rather than just feeling lost) and he feels burdened by its existence. That Power is what got him here.

Analysis/interpretation of this scene from episode 4

I was just thinking about this scene in particular again, and I just really love it. Originally when I saw the cut to the first memory, I was confused because it was so abrupt and obviously not the current seen that was playing. But then I immediately realized it is supposed to be this abrupt flash of memories, specifically a selection of unsafe ones as Ava talks about the safeness of the Loop, to show the intensity of Sour's thoughts and memories. He had been in a trance of tiredly mining and avoiding interactions, burying down these memories because he did not want to experience these unsafe moments again. The way there's no background music makes it so that the viewer can really focus on Sour's thoughts. It's eerie. I know Sour is looking at Ava and it's also just probably how his eyes are made on his skin, but the way that Sour's head is just shy of looking directly at the camera makes it look like he's disassociating, not fully taking in what Ava's saying because she triggered his memories. It might also be able to be interpreted as a sort of panic attack, or maybe at least the start of one, but I do definitely see the disassociation in Sour. As I mentioned, no background music is eerie, and the FOV of the memories is also eerie. It's like if something, or someone is missing. Like Sour is distant, not fully there. Anyway, yeah I like this scene.

I freaking. LOVE OCEAN SMP!! AND I LOVE YOUR DESIGNS TOO! Let me tell you, when I freaked out after seeing your art, I freaking freaked out /pos
TheSorta - He's a penguin! Don't think I have a specific reason why, but I did doodle him before prior to this episode (see below). I remember being surprised at him being a reoccurring character (THE first one), not that he really stayed for fight but y'knoww... The blue starfish on his head just kinda resemble the blue crown thing on his mc skin, and Sorta, in general, has one eye.
DanyRPG - I made him a horseshoe crab because those things are kinda freaking old, and Dany talks about how he's been on the server for a long time. The "tail" you see is actually attached to his head! His head is the horseshoe crab I guess. The heterochromia comes from my normal design of him, which gets the orange from his oldddddd skin. Also, you probably can't tell, but actually an amputee with a wooden leg.
Loppezz - A while ago, I asked in Loppezz's discord what animal she would be instead of a cat, and she said an orca or a bat! I asked this question for fun, but hearing this answer, I was like "Wait, Loppezz lowkey appeared in a random B-roll shot in Ocean SMP (ep1), so making her an orca whenever I get around to drawing her would be perfect". And turns out, she ended up in the next episode so LOL. Plus, she lives in the freaking cold (go figure), and orcas are also just found in cold oceans too. It's so perfect. The light blue hair and ribbons kinda just resemble the antennas and wings on her normal design! The outfit is the skin she wore in episode 2, and the trident she's holding is the Lost Trident of course. Her crown matches the gold on the trident yay
Swizu - My normal Swizu design is a cockatiel with large, green feathers on the top of his head that make him look like a pineapple. I think I chose for o!Swizu to be a narwhal because the horn would kind of resemble those giant feathers. Anyway, Swizu has genuinely gone through like 5 different designs 😭 So literally, the design above and below are both currently inaccurate LMAO. The current design is more similar to the design above (because the one below was a doodle from after ep1), it's just that his headband now is a very long seaweed wrapped around his forehead. He's holding Sharkilz's freaking trident because that's kind of what he did. I got scared that that trident in particular was gonna be like. A nightmare blunt rotation where whoever takes it next becomes corrupt asf...
EPISODE 3 DESIGNS: MasterThorne, MasterLeia
MasterThorne - I don't think I need to elaborate on how the salmon is a salmon. I never draw old people or bald people.
MasterLeia - I just thought it'd be cool to add a water fowl somewhere. Her skin kinda just gives swan vibes imo.
ItzMat5 - I had Mat listed as a seal since episode 1 (because he was there), and it's kinda crazy how I decide to sketch up a design for him literally a few weeks before episode 4 released LOL. I'm just a freaking genius idk. Anyways, there isn't a particular reason why he's a seal. Just feels like it, and I wanted a seal. He wears an orange/yellow coral necklace, which resembles the golden chain on his normal skin. His pupils are able to change to any shape(s) too! That's just apart of my normal design for him tho. The toes on his feet look really long because technically for seals, their hind legs ARE their tail. So yeah Mat has 2 tails for the fun of it technically. Maybe let's not think about logistics too deeply ok...
ThatJacky - Below, you can see I doodle him before in that same doodle sheet from after episode 1 lololol. I made his shirt thing a bit darker though. Gave him a friendly look because he would never ever betray of course! The pink little antennas and fins and stuff are just the.. jellyfish antennas? Strings? What do you even call them idk. But I was kinda thinking about the Pokemon Espeon while fully designing him. He has tiny feet.. so graceful.
Archer_Avery - I went through so many species ideas for him with my friends omg LOL. Eventually decided on a toad because I needed more amphibians. Plus, his skin kinda looks like a tree, and toads kinda got that... natural(?) look to them. Their camouflage or whatever. I hope you like the poorly-drawn chainmail 😭 He's nothing without it. Also, he has earrings for some reason despite not having ears for them to hang on.
AvaTheBrave - I decided to make her a shark because my Sharkilz design isn't even a shark, so I just needed a shark. She's specifically a dogfish, suggested by oomf GloomyGargoyle2 on twitter! It was a complete accident that she's a DOGfish and Sharkilz is a CATfish... What does this mean for SourSplash then...... She's decorated in diamond shards, which are also found on the trident! That a certain someone takes... BUT ANYWAY!
So that's basically it for the designs for the relevant Ocean SMP characters from ep2-4. So excitedly scared for the next episode... Episode 4 has done irreversible damage to me. Im moping.
Below, the first image is my Ocean SMP sona yay! I was in episode 3 and 4 :D I guess I'm a student at the Warrior Academy for whatever reason, and then got sent to purgatory (the Loop). But that design is also just a showcase of the general/typical outfit worn by an attending student! The red ribbon and orange gem/badge can also be found on my designs for Thorne and Leia. (oh, I'm a sea slug btw. my sona was already one anyway).
Second image is that doodle page I've been talking about that I made after episode 1. Can't believe the designs I made for the "random" cc characters became relevant... wow
Anyways Im still so scared for Ocean SMP. I'm scared. Im scared IM SCAREDDDD
