The Snake Fruit analysis (the BIG one, apparently)

Snake Fruit carefully constructs an image designed to control perception. It’s visible in nearly every aspect of their behavior and design: like their hidden mouth, obscured hands, unreadable expression, controlled speech, and the constant use of their fan as a barrier between themself and others. So even their body is concealed beneath layers of robes, leaving their true form ambiguous. Their design seems to really empathize concealment, as if Snake Fruit only wishes to be perceived on their own VERY carefully controlled terms.

And this controlled image of theirs goes far beyond mere aesthetics. They present themself as composed, intelligent, and above “mere Cookies,” often speaking with an almost rehearsed politeness that hides their true feelings beneath their many layers.

They also seem to rarely allow themself to appear vulnerable, and when moments of desperation or instability do surface, they are usually hidden behind laughter or mockery. Even their signature “hehehe” often feels less like genuine amusement and more like a mask meant to maintain control over a conversation or interaction. Speaking of their “hehehe”, it means a great deal of things, it mostly depends on the context for how it is used. For example, when praised, and they say their little “hehehe..”, it usually points to them being somewhat(?) flattered, especially if a fellow Dragon is praising them. However, this isn’t always the case, as they seem to use it as a defense, akin to a cobra’s reaction to getting provoked. And whenever this line IS dropped, it’s as though you can feel its absence. I have counted...over 24 times they’ve added their “hehehe” line, so I can assure you that it’s used in MULTIPLE different contexts.

AND, and Snake Fruit’s speech patterns themselves are also REALLY telling. They frequently refer to Cookies as “mere” or “puny,” constantly distancing themself from the very category they technically belong to (biology-wise/species-wise, if that’s what it’s categorized as). And considering how long they spent serving Longan Dragon, it becomes difficult to ignore how much of this language resembles Longan’s own worldview.

Speaking of the Longan Dragon, I’ve added examples of how Snake Fruit’s quotes correlate with the Ivory Dragon’s own, so please enjoy that before I proceed:

Snake Fruit: “How could a mere Cookie grassp the greater mind of a dragon?“ Longan Dragon: “How could you ever see eye-to-eye with me?“ Snake Fruit: “Sss... Are you, a mere Cookie, looking down upon me?“ Longan Dragon: “You should be grateful you can look up to me.“ Snake Fruit: “Ssoon my planss will come to fruition...“ Longan Dragon: “Tiny specks of grain could not begin to comprehend my plans.“

It’s clear to see that Snake Fruit (whether they realize it or not) has been directly influenced by Longan Dragon, or even the Violet Dragon, as one of their lines from the Adventure #6 story says “Sso loud for an inssignificant lump of flour…” and in one of the Lychee Dragon’s Magic Candy Puzzle cutscenes, they say “Ugh, I’ll bury them with the pitiful dough balls the next time I get a chance!” and while they don’t SEEM to correlate at first, just think about it. Most of the time, Cookies are referred to as just that, “Cookies”. It’s not often one points out the actual ingredients of a Cookie purely to insult them. So yes, I do have a distinct feeling that perhaps Snake Fruit had also copied the language spoken by the other Dragons in regards to how they view Cookies. For Longan Dragon, it’s simply by referring to them as “meek” and “mere” and “puny”, while ALSO praising and making it seem like Dragonhood is simply superior. For Lychee Dragon, it’s referring to the ingredients (dough, flour, etc.) that make up one of those “insignificant” Cookies, perhaps saying that they’re “lesser” by referring to them as such. Lotus Dragon also once mentioned “insignificant” Cookies, and both Pitaya Dragon and Ananas Dragon used the term “weak” on some occasions (perhaps several).

Now, how does all this come together to form the individual known as Snake Fruit? Well, think about it. Snake Fruit has often talked about disliking the idea of getting pity from others (specifically Cookies). In the “Vote! Which Cookie is the Best Liar?” event, although it might not be considered canon, Snake Fruit had mentioned disliking the idea of Cookies showing them pity when they said, “…The nerve of having me return to my chamberss by mysself… And Cookiess showing me pity…!” this is also not the only example of them showing their disdain about being pitied, but ALSO receiving help from others, as shown in the “Dragon Immortalis” story, where they say “Have you forgotten that I am almosst half a dragon? I am capable of taking care of mysself! Do not concern yourselvesss with me!” as well as “I find it amusing that Cookiess such as yourselvess are concerned about one like me.” And in that cutscene from “Dragon Immortalis”, they saw the help given to them as a debt to be repaid. And they did just that, in a surprising display of selflessness, squandering their chance to ascend in order to quickly save the very same soldier that saved them earlier. After doing so, they said “Hehehe... Did I not ssay I shall repay this debt one day...? Yet even I did not expect to repay it thiss ssoon. Nor did I expect to ssquander my chance to ascend to dragonhood... But nonetheless, I can return to Lotuss Palace without a weight upon my shoulderss”.

And the question remains: Why do they hate pity so much? Well, it all points back to one thing: Dragons. But also worth/legitimacy. The issue with Snake Fruit is that they don’t really HATE getting help, but the idea of being helped by these “mere Cookies” is enough to make them really irritated with the idea that they’re considered weak. Help = just another form of pity. Ok 3 things but you get it, right? Everything I’ve shown, everything I’ve mentioned, it’s basically Snake Fruit telling us “I want to be legitimate. I want to be a Dragon. I want to be worth something more than others think I am.” But you ALSO might be wondering “If this is what they’re telling us, then why do they humble themself by saying they’re just a ‘mere servant’ and whatnot? What’s the point if they’re contradicting themself?” And I’ve wondered that as well. And I do think that some of what they’re saying is manipulation, and them saying “Look at how weak I am, there’s no way you’ll expect me to be more.” as a tactic to make others trust them more easily, to make others think “Wow, they’re so humble! And they aren’t prideful or haughty,”. But it could very well be Snake Fruit’s internalization of what the Dragons say about them. “Such a useless snake”, from Lotus Dragon. “Foolish serpent with a petty scheme”, by Longan Dragon. The list goes on. Also, I do think that Snake Fruit shut up about being helped by Cookies in that one Dragon Immortalis scene, since they went from saying “?!?! Inssolent Cookie! You dare grab onto me when I sspecifically told you to ssave yourselves?!” to “I find it amusing that Cookiess such as yourselvess are concerned about one like me.” and the reason I mention it now of all times is because in between these two lines, the Cookies say that it wasn’t because Snake Fruit was weak, and that’s why they helped. They helped Snake Fruit because “Half-dragon or not, you're one of us now!”. They NEED Snake Fruit and their tactician expertise. They need them to help lead the army alongside the others. After all… “How's an army supposed to fight without a tactician?!“. Snake Fruit must’ve realized in that moment that perhaps…it wasn’t because they were weak, or the Cookies saw it as some sort of charity case.

˚̣̣̣༏ ݄ ֺ . Things I Noticed/Found Out About Snake Fruit Dragon 𓈒 ̣̣♡

(Yes this is an entire list that will eventually get updated every time I see something new) 1. They were confirmed to previously be Longan Dragon's tactician post-Stone Dragon war, but that title seems to have been stripped from them, as they speak about it in a past-tense manner (with the quote "from my dayss as Longan Dragon'ss tactician"). 2. They are confirmed to be older than majority of the OvenBreak cast, being around the Dragons long before Cookie civilizations started to appear around EarthBread. (implied in their explanation about counting the bodies of the Stone Dragons, and about witnessing Longan Dragon's final form against the Stone Dragona back during the war. And it's confirmed that Dragons are much older than Cookies, as they noticed villages and whatnot appearing over time.) 3. Snake Fruit's Draconic form seems to be much bigger compared to the others (at least in what was shown for the cutscene art it was in. Since Longan Dragon is confirmed to be 1.4 GingerBraves tall, I do wonder their size)

(as you can see, Longan Dragon Cookie seems to be small enough in this form to fit into Snake Fruit Dragon's palms...and unless this is exaggerated, which hopefully it isn't, it's a really intriguing detail. And seeing as majority of Snake Fruit Dragon's body is submerged in the water, I imagine they're so much bigger than this, and I absolutely adore that.) 4. They seem to spend much of their time in the Lotus Palace's Library (mentioned in the Martial Tarts Arc of OvenBreak) 5. They were surprised when Mango Cookie greeted them during the Draconic War Arc, asking if he already formed an attachment even though all they did was simply train together.

(Devsisters please it would be a delight to see Snake Fruit interacting with Mango Cookie again,,, I find their dynamic adorable I need to see them acting like a grumpy immortal mentor + friendly "i'm so jolly" student 🥹✌️) 6. They have a good enough poker face (mentioned in Ice Juggler Cookie's relationship chart) 7. They also have blank eyes/eyes with no highlights to them. (and while we can see this just from their design, Lychee Dragon themself even mentions that Snake Fruit's blank eyes "suit them") 8. Not necessarily about Snake Fruit Dragon, but did you know you can make wine out of salak (aka snake fruit)? (Wine-drinker Snake Fruit hc my beloved) 9. Snake Fruit does not show their arms, hands, or legs at all, in any of their animations or costumes. We are able to see their arms in their draconic form, though. 10. Since two of the already-existing snakelike cookies are clearly nagas, it could be implied that Snake Fruit is also one as well, but it's also something left up to interpretation (because of the point i made in #9.) 11. They daydream occasionally (shown when they were supposed to be talking to Ananas Dragon, when actuality they were just imagining forcing [Ananas Dragon] to bow and pick fruit for them) 12. They've referred to their dragon form as their "true form". 13. They are able to transform into their dragon form when angry/unable to control their own emotions. (shown when they got mad at a shopkeeper for slamming a door in their face.) 14. They released on pride month, specifically June 28th, 2022 (while their sexuality isn't confirmed in the slightest and they don't seem to show any attraction towards anyone romantically, as it isn't a focus in the story, it's certainly fair game for any headcanon. My personal hc is that they're pansexual like me. 🩷💛🩵) 15. This could be wrong, but so far the only named individuals who've served Longan Dragon aren't 100% Cookie. (Examples being Snake Fruit, Longan Lancer, and Longan Shaman. Longan Lancer and Longan Shaman are both wyverns who take on a Cookie form who serve the Ivory Dragon. And we already know Snake Fruit.) And I don't know if it was intentional and a way to show that if Longan Dragon were to have servants, they wouldn't be fully Cookie (because they clearly find them weak and whatnot), but it's an interesting thing to note nonetheless. 16. Their sleeves resemble the salak fruit exactly, with the outer layer looking like the skin of the fruit, while the off-white insides resemble the cloves that the salak has. (It looks like garlic, does it not?) 17. Salak as a plant is distantly related to coconuts, as both belong to the Arecaceae family, which also includes date palms! (so no, they aren't directly related, but it's interesting to note.)

18. (Shoutout to arogustus) Snake Fruit's snake form is only shown in their defeat animation (aka when they get their ass beat by an obstacle on low health and DIE.) and their scale patterns change depending on their costume (brown for original, dark teal for slithering strategist, and light blue for azure serpent sage) 19. Snake Fruit does not have a sprite where they have the lotus scale armor on (to my idea? this needs to be rechecked so take my words with a grain of salt.) 20. Noticed that in Snake Fruit's skill (without a costume on), the snakes that carry them are the inverted version of the salak fruit (having an off-white head and back, while their underbelly is reddish brown) 21. It's interesting to note that Snake Fruit's under eyelid (or whatever that is) changes with their design. It's pink for Slithering Strategist, but blue for Azure Serpent Sage. I cannot tell if this is makeup or not, but it gives the illusion that they have noticeable lashes when they close their eyes. (when I say "noticeable", think of Affogato's lashes when he closes his eyes, or Lotus Dragon, kinda like that. idk how to describe it well, sorry 🥹✌️) 22. The snakes that carry Snake Fruit's sedan in their skill have diamond patterns on their back. 23. They only have one eyebrow. Well, only one that's shown. You might be asking "what if it's covered by their hair?" it's not, I promise you. Their right eyebrow is nonexistent, even with Snake Fruit's hair pulled back. 24. Both the Azure Serpent Sage and Snake Fruit's original design have ribbons (I don't know how exactly to describe it) that change a part of their silhouette. The Slithering Strategist costume does not have this.

I do think that they differ in the sense that Snake Fruit Cookie recognized the hierarchy with the Dragons and didn't try to make an entirely new order (tried to challenge Longan to seemingly take their place as the strongest), while Affogato Cookie seemingly tried to take over Dark Cacao to make his own place where he could be 'understood'. Eh if my read is wrong I'll correct it myself, that's just what i remember from Affogato at the moment. I haven't played crk in a good bit, not since DE's release. He's so cute I adore him very much.
