it feels so good to be kind. it’s the warm feeling you get when you tell someone that they look nice today, or that they did a good job, or that their voice sounds lovely, or that the cookies they baked were delicious, or how you always laugh at their jokes. it’s the warm feeling you get when they respond bashfully, or surprised, with that small smile and a thankfulness that shines in their eyes. it feels so good when someone is kind to you. when it feels like the effort you put into yourself is seen and acknowledged and appreciated. it feels so good when you’re able to make someone feel that wonderful. we should always try and encourage each other.

Somebody gave our mascot statue a tennis ball.
good he deserves it
I’m thankful for these quiet autumn days. The ones where you sit outside and all you can hear is the sound of the tree branches rattling in the wind, or the leaves gently falling upon the ground. Sitting by a window with a warm drink in your hand, watching the dark clouds float by. Walking past houses and seeing pumpkins on doorsteps, or going to a pumpkin patch and drinking apple cider. If only autumn could last forever.

make america again. just make it again. let’s start over completely. we had a good run but it’s time to hit the reset button and try again
some thoughts for america 2.0:
national anthem is gasolina
no founding fathers whatsoever but maybe we give dwayne the rock johnson a mountain statue or two
let’s do way, way less genocide this time. im thinking definitely like 0% of the genocide from the last time, that seems good
maybe more holidays about dogs
the reunited states of america
can’t wait to meet my future dog

Pippin’s instant crush on Faramir is my favorite thing because it’s just like me too, Pip, me too
All your words are but to say: you are a woman, and your part is in the house. But when the men have died in battle and honour, you have leave to be burned in the house, for the men will need it no more. But I am of the House of Erol and not a serving-woman. I can ride and wield blade, and I do not fear either pain or death.
The Lord of the Rings Meme 29. the beginning
“It all began with the forging of the Great Rings. Three were given to the Elves; immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven, to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern over each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret, a master ring, to control all others. And into this ring he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all. One by one, the free peoples of Middle Earth fell to the power of the Ring. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of men and elves marched against the armies of Mordor, and on the very slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle-Earth. Victory was near, but the power of the ring could not be undone. It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Isildur, son of the king, took up his father’s sword. And Sauron, enemy of the free peoples of Middle-Earth, was defeated. The Ring passed to Isildur, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever, but the hearts of men are easily corrupted. And the ring of power has a will of its own. It betrayed Isildur, to his death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, the ring ensnared a new bearer. The ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels under the Misty Mountains, and there it consumed him. The ring gave to Gollum unnatural long life. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind; and in the gloom of Gollum’s cave, it waited. Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. Rumor grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear, and the Ring of Power perceived. Its time had now come. It abandoned Gollum. But then something happened that the Ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable. A Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, of the Shire. For the time will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all…“

Last week I visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek. While I was there, Curator of Social and Cultural Dimensions of Spaceflight, Dr. Margaret Weitekamp, told me Telstar’s story. Our tour of the museum was broadcast live, and it’s archived here. Learn more about Telstar (and the model of the USS Enterprise currently on display)!
