From his spot in the line in front of you, Timothy Thatcher couldn’t help but overhear everything. But then again, he thought to himself, you weren’t exactly bothering to be quiet or anything.
“C’mon babe. You're gonna avoid me forever?” Tommaso asked as he pouted down at you and stepped closer. Too close, actually. You tensed and stepped away. You could feel the eyes of your coworkers fix on the two of you, waiting to see what was going to happen. All you really wanted to do at this point was melt into the floor.
Why had you let Dakota and the others convince you not to skip out on the planned group weekend? Clearly, you showing up gave Tommaso the false hope that you could patch things up. He’d been behaving as such since the Uber picked you up outside of your apartment building.

“Hm, let me think.. Do I miss being cheated on, stood up, talked down to and just constantly stressed out in general? No, not really. Buh-bye now.” you waved your hands at him dismissively and he grumbled to himself. “Suit yourself. I don’t want to hear a damn thing when there’s not a cabin or a room left. You made your decision.”
“If there’s not a cabin or a room left then I’ll just leave. No skin off my nose. I honestly don’t know why I let Dakota and the girls talk me into keeping the damn ticket to begin with.”
A blatant lie. You knew exactly why you’d allowed it. He stood about 6’3 and you’d just backed yourself right into his body not even a few seconds prior.

Tim finished signing himself in and rather than grab his luggage and head out to find his cabin, he lingered around. Watching the situation between you and Tommaso. Rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he did so.
Your turn came to sign in.
“You’ll be taking the cabin with Mr. Ciampa?” the clerk asked.
“Actually.. I’d like to see if there’s a cabin or even just a room in the area off the lodge available? If you don’t mind and it’s not too much trouble…” you trailed off and in the five seconds it took the check-in clerk to check their computer screen on the other side of the desk, you crossed your fingers and your legs because that’s just how much you did not want to give up the weekend trip -or your super secret ulterior motive for even showing up to begin with.
The look the clerk gave you had your stomach sinking a little, a feeling of overall disappointment filled you. You sighed and thanked them for looking into it and you were just picking up your luggage prepared to leave when you stood up and found yourself face to chest with Timothy Thatcher.
And he was kind of fidgeting just a little.
He glanced at Tommaso, who was lingering also. Smirking at you as if to rub it in that he’d been right and you’d been stupid to fight him, clearly you should’ve just shared the cabin for the weekend. You glared at Tommaso when you caught him giving you that know it all smirk and after tearing your eyes off, you glanced back up at Timothy, managing a smile.
Every bit of heat within your body rushed straight to your cheeks, it seemed.
“Uh, hi..”
“Hi.” Timothy muttered as he stepped just a little closer.
“Is there.. Is there something you uh.. You want?” you raised one of your hands, tangling them up in your hair as you tugged at it it a little and gazed up at him. Timothy shrugged. “No sense in leaving. You already made a 3 hour trip.”

You gazed at him for a second or two, half thinking you couldn’t have possibly heard him right. “Wait, huh?” you asked the question in a quiet -and quite frankly, shocked, tone. He chuckled. Stepped just a little closer. Cautiously.
“I asked if you’d share one with me.” Timothy repeated. He shrugged and gave you a half-smirk as he pointed out again, “You won’t find a ride back tonight. There’s supposed to be a pretty wicked snow storm rolling in. And even if you did, three hours back is a long ride, doll. You can sleep and figure things out.. Or just share the cabin with me for the weekend. Whatever you decide.”
Tommaso visibly tensed at this and growled quietly. “Son of a bitch.” he practically growled the words as he started to make his way over, closer to where the two of you stood talking about the whole proposed idea.
And maybe it was your inner antagonist, maybe it was the way you already felt about Tim.. Or the fact that he seemed like a decent guy the few times you’d spoken in the past. Someone you could trust. Someone you could definitely become friends with, even if you wanted so much more than friendship.
You gave a soft grin and nodded. “Yeah, I might as well sleep on it. Three hours back is not gonna be a fun ride and I’m exhausted. I won’t be in your way… Right?” you asked the question and tilted your head slightly to look up at him.
“I’m the one who asked. C’mon. Let’s get going before someone tempts me to kick his ass in the lobby.” Timothy gave another shrug and you grabbed up your luggage, following him out the door of the lobby.
Or you were going to, but Tommaso filled the doorway, blocking your exit.
“That guy’s only offerin this to get under my skin, dollface.”
“Maybe he’s offering to be nice, Tommaso. Not everyone is a through and through actual prick like you’ve proven to be.” you answered calmly. “Move.”
He smirked down at you.
Timothy cleared his throat from behind Tommaso and muttered calmly, “If you don’t let her out the door man, you’re not gonna like what happens.”
Just the gleam in his eyes. Coupled with that calm smirk and the low and deliberate tone he spoke in was more than enough to get you clenching your thighs because it had wetness starting to pool in your panties.
“Tommaso if you don’t move, it’s not Timothy you’re going to have to worry about. “Yeah.” you answered. Your mind raced, frantically trying to process what you’d been asked and what you’d just agreed to. And you found yourself unable to come up with a good reason as to why Timothy even asked you to share the cabin with him in the first place, even if it was just for the night.
… he did say he wouldn’t object to the entire weekend though, but why? He’s normally really private… the question came but you didn’t dare ask it. You were beyond exhausted and honestly, all you wanted to do was get to the cabin and get changed out of snow-dampened clothes, get settled in for the night.
The short trek across the snow-covered parking lot was quiet. Filled with a lingering tension that you couldn’t quite put a finger on it’s origin. And as you wandered up the three steps and onto the porch of a small log cabin and stopped behind Timothy so he could unlock the door, you found yourself more and more tempted to ask the question burning a hole in your mind. “We are.” Timothy agreed.
“It’s not like sharing the bed would be a big deal.” you continued, even though the second those words left your mouth you felt your stomach flutter and your face heated right up, you were blushing again. Your brain to mouth filter was apparently taking a break for the night and you waited patiently on the floor to open and swallow you whole.
Timothy coughed quietly, brown eyes widening just a little as he looked at you and then over at the bed in question. He seemed to mull it over, biting his lip as he leaned in the doorway of the cabin’s one bedroom. He chuckled quietly and cleared his throat, gazing at the bed intently. Dazed. I didn’t even have to look up from the book to know Matt Riddle was standing right beside me. Staring at me. And just his mere presence had me annoyed. I pretended to ignore it at first. Continuing to flip through my beaten copy of The Shining.
He continued to stand there. Getting just a little more impatient with each second that passed. Finally, I sighed and rolled my eyes to myself before shutting the book loudly and clearing my throat as I looked up and met Matt’s gaze. “What on Earth do you want, hm?”
Murky blue eyes flitted over my body, the gaze there borderline lewd. It was enough that I tensed and tugged at the hem of my favorite mini skirt and rose to a sitting position, neatly tucking one leg beneath myself. I repeated my question, snapping my fingers at his face.
“Speak up, idiot.” I commanded, glaring at him.
Tempted to skip the pretense of giving a shit what he was up to and make my way down the hall. Away from him.
Matt chuckled, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
“Gulak dumped ya, huh?”
My brow raised.
He went on to elaborate.And the more he said, the more irritated I got with myself. Behaving so thirsty and shameless. And it had gotten me absolutely nowhere in the end. Because Drew didn’t seem to notice my attempts. I pouted to myself about that and as my eyes fixed on Matt Riddle, I scowled.
“That’s what’s wrong with you lately, huh?” Matt continued, a smirk coming easily. “If he doesn't want you, pretty girl… Maybe the original bro’s interested.”
I scoffed at him. My brow went up, arched in disbelief. I felt vomit surging up my throat from my stomach and my hand flew to my mouth to cover it, stop myself from throwing up or laughing until I pissed myself.
“He’d have had to notice me in order to date and dump me, neanderthal.” -I knew I sounded bitter, but it hurt. It was probably the only time I’d ever really felt something real and it was definitely the only time I’d ever come out of a situation without exactly the outcome I wanted going into it.
I pushed the whole thing out of my head and cleared my throat. “So to answer your question, no. Now what do you want, hm?”
“ You to admit you want me.” Matt smirked, went to eyeing me up all over again. When I tell you I threw up in my mouth a little, this may or may not have been a huge understatement. My jaw dropped and I eyed him, fighting laughter when I realized that he was being serious.
“ I don’t, actually.” I wasted no time in answering. “And I won’t ever, so you can leave.”
“ You’re seriously just gonna waste all that… On Gulak. Guy has a stick up his ass. And he doesn’t want you.” Matt argued his point.
“ First of all, I’m not wasting anything just because I’m smart enough not to let you within ten feet.” I took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of my nose, gazing down at the man standing near me from my perch on top of the big AV trunk. “Secondly, I want who I want. It’s not you. Kick rocks and deal with it, Matty.” I slipped down from the trunk and stretched as I stood beside him, yawning and glaring because my entire point in even going up top of the trunk in the first place was childishly to hide from him and get just a few minutes peace but apparently, he had to go and show up and ruin that for me. “Oh and as far as Gulak goes? It’s like I said… I want who I want. You and anybody else who's been trying lately won’t convince me otherwise. So run and tell your boys idiot. I’m not interested.”
I stared up at him defiantly after saying this, tapping my foot. Trying my very best to convey every ounce of the boredom and irritation I was currently feeling with the conversation.
“So your plan is just to what, princess? Wait around and hope that maybe one day he takes pity? Kind of dumb if you’re askin me.”
I grumbled to myself, rolling my eyes. When he said it like that, I was fully aware that maybe my behavior in the past, thirsty and shameless, had been stupid. Had made me come off a certain way. And now, it was clear that the idiots I worked with had the wrong impression. I needed to set things straight. I stepped closer to Matt. Gazing up at him with a bit of a mocking sweet look on my face. “ I’m not interested in you or anyone else. You’re the only one wasting your time. You’re the one who is too dumb to comprehend the words not a chance in hell, Matty boy. What’s your plan here? What do you hope to accomplish?” I tapped my foot as I glanced up at him and then down at my watch impatiently. “Another notch in your bedpost?”
“I mean, I want you…” Matt trailed off, shaking his head in frustration when he realized that his little speech wasn’t doing anything but making him look incredibly stupid. “You are wasting your time if you keep goin’ after a guy who obviously doesn’t want you. I’m not the one who acted all thirsty and shit and made myself look easy.”
I mocked his statement, laughing. Then I smirked. “Yeah? Is that so? Well I don’t want you. Now if you’ll excuse me, this is boring and I have hair and makeup to get to. Oh and Matt?” I paused and looked back at him, waiting.
“What?” Matt snapped, giving me an annoyed look.
I wanted to smirk at the angry and annoyed look on his face. I lived for it. I’m not going to bother lying, I enjoy making people frustrated on occasion. I bit my lip, gazing at him and added calmly, “ You were right about one thing. Lesson learned.” before turning to walk away down the hall.
I sank down into my usual preferred makeup artist’s chair and I grumbled a little, drawing the attention of Charlotte and Asuka.
“Another frustrating run in with a certain bear-like man?” Charlotte asked, studying me in mild amusement. “You’re gonna keep teasing that poor guy and one day, he’s going to snap. I keep telling you, it’s the quiet ones you gotta watch out for…”
“Oh no. No. It wasn’t a run in with Drew this time. I’d have happily taken that over having to deal with mouthbreather Matt for ten minutes too long.”
“Girl.. I told you to just throw your hand in his face and walk away. What’d he say?” Charlotte was going into protective mode.
I gave a laugh, shaking my head. “Well, apparently the only reason him and the rest of the idiots back here who have been approaching lately are doing it because they think I’m easy. I believe his words were thirsty? Desperate?” I sighed and shook my head. I’ve never actually been put in my place like that before.
And even though it left a bitter as hell taste in my mouth, I had to step back, evaluate my behavior towards Drew in recent months and I really had to think… Was it worth it to me to continue doing too much?
Making a fool out of myself?
“Ouch. Hey, don’t listen to him! It’s not like you’re flirting with every single man backstage. Or sleeping with them. You know the truth. And Asuka and I both know how fucking picky you are in reality..” Charlotte trailed off.
I shook my head and spoke up again, calmly. “No,no.. He had a very valid point. If I don’t want the attention from the rest of these fucking idiots that have been approaching lately, maybe I need to stop giving the one I want the attention from any attention at all? Maybe I need to just like… Move on already.”
“Maybe not move on, but just… Be more lowkey? Subtlety is an art.” Charlotte gave the gentle suggestion, Asuka agreeing with a few vigorous nods and adding, “Just don’t give up. Whatever you choose. Don’t give up entirely.”
I eyed her. I know she’s old friends with Drew. For a second or two, I almost wanted to hope that her insisting I don’t just leave the poor guy alone meant something. But then I have to stop and think about it. Asuka’s probably just trying to play matchmaker.
Charlotte’s advice did get me thinking though. And I made up my mind. I was going to start tonight and just kind of… Lay off of Drew Gulak as much as possible. No unnecessary talking or touching. None of my flirty little looks or remarks. No making myself entirely too available.
I bit my lip, mulling it over as the two of them had a hushed conversation nearby that ended with Asuka going out into the hallway to do something or talk to someone and Charlotte wandering back over, sinking down into the seat beside mine. “You looked like you got an idea just now. I hope it doesn’t involve giving up.”
I shrugged. “Maybe? Maybe not. All I know is that Matt throwing those things up at me a little while ago have me feeling kinda pathetic, Char.”
“You’re not though. You’re just not very good at subtle.” she made me laugh when she said it and after sharing a laugh with her, I settled into my chair, letting the makeup artist get started on my look for the night.

He was still trying to get his head around the whole standoff between Tiffany and Matt he’d overheard not even five minutes before. Matt wandered past and he stepped out. Stopping Riddle in his tracks. Glaring down at him as he shook his head. Rubbing his chin, he took a few seconds to weigh his words and really choose them wisely.
Because he’d been telling the guy that if he didn’t leave Tiffany alone, there would be consequences. Just like he’d told Orton and Corbin.
“We’ve had this discussion before, Riddle. What did I tell you?” Drew asked the question calmly. Deathly calm.
Matt studied him and chuckled, shrugging. “Doesn’t matter what you said, bro. You’re the one who acts like she’s invisible. I’m gonna shoot my shot.”
“Shooting your shot is one thing. Being an utter shit-stain is something entirely different.” Drew’s arm shot out when Matt went to step around him, catching him across the throat. Drew chuckled calmly. “We’re not done here.”
Matt chuckled, stepping up. “I said what I said. You wanna do somethin, bro?”
Drew shoved at him lightly and grumbled. “Oh, there’s plenty I want to do. Bro.” he mocked Matt’s tone and then smirked. “A match tonight. See, I’m bored back here. Clearly, someone needs to get certain things through your thick skull. Fair enough?”
Matt laughed and smirked. “You want a piece? Fine. Let’s do this.”
The two men walked away from each other and Drew’s first thought was to go and find her. As he was trying to do that, Asuka found him instead. And he left their conversation further convinced.
He had to do something. At first, Drew had just assumed that Tiffany was one of those flirty kinds. He hadn’t been sure whether to take her seriously or not, so he’d done nothing. He’d had to fight himself tooth and nail to keep from reacting, especially on her flirtier days, but somehow, he’d managed this far. And he’d continued to talk himself right out of acting on anything. Saying anything.
If he wanted her, and he very much did, it was clear to him. He needed to really step things up.
And the sooner the better, because his conversation with Asuka revealed that Tiffany was probably about to give up entirely. He wanted to kick himself, but at the same time, knowing she went so physical about expressing her obvious feelings towards him really left him with a lot of questions. Questions he now definitely needed answers to.
,, She thinks I don’t notice, hm? Well, I’ll just have to show her she’s completely wrong.” the thought came and Drew rubbed his chin. Pacing. Going into deep thought mode. By the time his music was queued and he stood on the gorilla for his impromptu match with Matt Riddle, he’d made up his mind.
Tonight, he was taking control of the situation completely.

As per usual, watching him in the ring had me on the edge of my seat. And all I could do as he literally took it to Matt Riddle right in front of my very eyes was scream at the tv about instant Karma and cheer Drew on.
Asuka wandered in at some point, this little mischief filled smirk on her face. She leaned in and whispered something to Charlotte, who sat nearby. The two were laughing and nodding, but I was too caught up in the match on tv to really bother asking what was going on.
“Well. I guess it’s a cold shower for me tonight. Icy cold.” I muttered in a daze as the ref raised Drew’s arm for the victory and the match came to an end. I raised my fountain drink to my lips and went to take a sip, pouting when I realized it was empty.
“I’m gonna step out. Go walk it off.” I called out to my two friends as I stepped into the hallway, starting to walk towards Catering. Now, I wasn’t actually looking for Drew backstage as I usually would. It took literally everything in me not to.
I rounded a corner, paying more attention to my phone than I was where I was going and I collided right into him. My phone settled on the floor and I bit my lip, gazing down at it. Trying as hard as I could not to stare at him or react in any particular way, though God knows, the flirt in me was literally dying to reach up and fluff his hair.. Something.

I’m not sure how long I stood there in the doorway to the hotel gym, watching him lift weights. It was probably way longer than I should have. I was definitely mesmerized, that much was obvious.

“I saw you sparring with Taya yesterday morning.” he broke the silence.
I nodded, shrugging it off. “She needed a sparring partner because Jade and Sonny were shopping or something.”

“Do you miss it?” Adam asked, giving me a curious look.

I glanced at the water bottle in his hand and he held it out to me.
I took it, uncapping and taking a long sip.
“I should go, I’m probably interrupting you.” I went to stand and he reached out, grabbing hold of my hip, stopping me.
