Museum sneezes

Met a girl in a museum carrying a roll of toilet paper for her runny nose and sneezes. The first sneeze I heard from across the museum, loud and uncovered-sounding carried by a big reverb in the chamber. She was in the middle of getting her photo taken by her friend. She seemed sick but just rubbed her nose for a bit.

A little later, we ran into each other again, she was with her friend and blowing her nose. We chatted a bit as we looked at the exhibit, they were from Mexico and staying in a nearby hostel, about to take a train to their next city that afternoon. While looking at the exhibit she sneezed again, but less vocal more snotty, and she immediately turned away and walked out of the exhibit. She had a roll of toilet paper, and she blew her nose aggressively for a few minutes, and we could hear from inside.

My imagination went wild thinking about how she must have been so sick as to give up on individual tissues and take a roll of toilet paper from the hostel bathroom in preparation for a sneezy day in public.

I like to imagine that everyone who has a stifled sneeze, sneezes that way because they've had an incident where their natural uninhibited sneeze sprayed the wrong object or person

Nothing like a ski trip cold. Even if the ill one starts showing symptoms on the long drive up, there's no turning back, everyone's committed to the weekend and cozying up in the same cabin.

As their symptoms intensify it might be noticed, but it can blend in with the general cold weather sniffles from others in the group. So they proceed to propagate their cold, sneezing away at night in the shared bedroom, on the resort in the packed gondolas and lodges, and in the living areas for dinner and card games.

I will never stifle my sneezes, although I probably should've at this hour (and in close living spaces...🦠) have any of you been woken up hearing a sneeze? Much more fun than being woken by incessant snoring
