PSA: Do not download from OldVersion.com
Hello there, pentium486 here.
I've recently noticed the site OldVersion.com has malware hidden in it's downloads (it looks like the site too, judging by the ads and "Malware Free" scans)
Various versions of popular programs have been infected (e.x Daemon Tools 4.03, Adobe Reader 7/8) with the update.exe virus, which acts as a real Firefox Browser installation (although it's a still image) and does the following:
Edits Shell32, Explorer.exe and other kernel/explorer files
Runs on startup
Floods the taskbar with gibberish and strange title bars
Tries to link to a eh... "Very Bad" webpage.
(Not sure if it was the virus, but my External LG CD-ROM Drive/Burner wasn't showing up)
To remove it manually, either system restore or delete manually the "Mortar" folder (it has many other names, delete the one with the update.exe file)
The computer itself!
(Cable management not included)
That’s a Reddit moment. Welcome!
