Bubble

So an update of sorts... Last week my grandfather died. It's sad because I wasn't particularly close to him and I kind of wish that I had been. Either way, something in my heart was telling me I should go "home" for the funeral so here I am. Can I just tell you I have never been more happy that I made this journey. Like the service though very long (didn't attend funerals growing up so this was a huge shock) was beautiful. It truly was a celebration of a life And I think that's the most glorious way to honor someone who has died. Then though be it a sad occasion, it became like a family renuion. I left Utica when I was around 7 years old so there were a lot of people I haven't seen since then. I then met cousins that I never had a chance to meet before because of how far away we all lived from each other. For the longest time I had been feeling like I didn't belong with my family. Then get me around the Feltons (you wouldn't understand) and I feel like I belong again. When my uncle was giving the eulogy, he said so many things that truly touched me. He said things that drove a lot of things straight through the heart. My aunt also said a lot of things that got to me. The wheels started turning and they have turned before. The difference this time is that I have come full circle. From the school of life all the way to where I am now. Of course, there was the little brain bomb that also drove things home. My uncle invited me to come visit him in Minnesota. He said just call him and he'll fly me out there. I then used one of my dad's lines because it was fitting. "I've never been west of Buffalo." There was the joke that I'm my father'a daughter but then my cousin chimes in. "You've never really left your bubble have you?" Bubble? I always knew I had a mental bubble that I would go into when I needed to lubricate my creative mind. I didn't know I had created a physical one. They say, "You can always go back home." That mentality made me so much braver then I normally would be away at college. Things went haywire while I lived in Buffalo so I returned home. I wasn't going to stay very long but here I am on the other side of six years wondering why I haven't moved. I was wondering. I am not any longer. Well, as my late grandfather used to say which couldn't be more fitting for the writer in me... next page.
