Klug grinned broadly at the book Kris gave him. He didn’t have this spellbook yet, and it took his all to read it right there in front of Kris and his mother. He did give Kris a hug, though, with a mumbled thank you. He held the book close to his chest, and kept flipping through it to see the inside.

Stella looks shocked when Kris hands her a gift, and tears up a little when she sees the pendant inside. That was so thoughtful! She immediately puts on the necklace and gives Kris a hug as well.

“Thank you, Kris, that was very thoughtful of you. I’m very glad Klug and I have you as such a good friend.”

Merry Christmas.” Klug’s acquaintance seemed particularly difficult to buy for, but he thinks he’s got just the thing— a new kendama, as well as a book of tricks to do with Puyo. “It’s not because I like you or anything! This is just to make you a more formidable opponent!”

“H-huh? For me?” Maguro wonders surprisingly, looking at the book and kendama for a second. How did Klug know that he wanted these?! Without even thinking; he pulls the young magician into a hug, smiling at him.

“Thanks, Klug. You’re amazing! Which reminds me, I got you a little something too!” With that, he pulls out a box to reveal a hand-crafted magic wand like what magicians use to perform spells! There was a bit of a nervous grin on the boy’s face – with a bright shade of pink appearing in his cheeks that can be seen under his bangs.

“I uhhh… made this myself. I-i do hope you like it!”

Fawful couldn’t help chuckling a little. Okay, yeah, this was too funny. Gently taking the other’s glasses off his head and helping him put them on, Fawful stuck his tongue out.

“There is only one of me. I can’t be replicated like some kind of dessert, Klug. You just didn’t have your glasses on.”

Klug blinked a lot once his glasses were placed back on his head, but still looked teary and confused.

“Okay, the blurry... thing is gone, but there’s still two of you...”l

Klug trailed off, focusing more on the cooking in front of him. He wanted to make sure he kept everything edible, and talking while cooking may not be the smartest idea. When Kris mentions the recipe, though, Klug looks curiously back up at her.

“Really? Is it written down anywhere? I can try to make it.”

Playing the “single mother” card would be something that the detective would have to keep in mind the next time she has to talk with her boss. How did she get so lucky to have such a smart son?

“I should have it written down somewhere, let me go find it.”

Kris walks over to a nearby small table that had a certain folder lying on it labeled as “Memories”. She flipped through its contents before pulling out a certain almost wrinkled piece of paper.

“I could’ve sworn I wrote this down myself. This looks nothing like my handwriting - then again, my handwriting has changed over the years.” She muttered to herself, walking back over to Klug as she looked over the recipe.

“It’s called carbonara. I have no idea where he learned such a recipe, probably from your great aunt Gayle. She always knew all kinds of recipes like the back of her hand; you just tell her to make something, and she’d make it without a problem.”

She then looks at Klug with a bit of a genuine yet smug-looking smile. “Your great aunt Gayle knew quite a bit of magic back when she was your age.”

Klug made sure his cooking on the stove wouldn’t burn before turning to the recipe on the table. He’d heard quite a few things about Kris’ family over the years, but nothing about them knowing magic. He gave his mother a wry smile.

“You’re sure I’m adopted? We have quite a bit in common sometimes.”

He looked through the recipe idly, trying to remember if they had all the ingredients for carbonara. It seemed like they did, so he took the paper back to the stove and pulled out a box of pasta.

“What kind of magic did she know? Anything I could pick up for school?”

Ringo/Klug They don’t interact much, but they really click when they do talk to each other, sharing a love of academics, and Ringo can easily get Klug into the legends and myths of her world. When it comes to fighting, however, they butt heads – Klug’s too prideful to take a backseat to anyone that isn’t Lemres or Ms Accord, but Ringo’s the one that can actually come up with an effective strategy, and she’s not exactly patient with a smarmy know-it-all, especially when things are rough and need real communication.

“Well, I mean… your name is fitting for you, cause you are smart.”

“Though now that I think about it, Ringo and Maguro said they were both named after food too, didn’t they…? So maybe food names aren’t that weird…”

Sig looked off into space for a bit, as if thinking hard about something, before his gaze suddenly shifted back to his classmate.

“Hey… what do you think my name means?”

“Yes, I’ve heard that as well. Fitting for the children of greengrocers and a fishmongers, I suppose.”

Klug hums a little bit, flipping through one of his books absent-mindedly as if looking for the answer.

“Well, I’m not sure about other languages, but in German it’s a fairly uncommon name that means ‘victory.’

...Which I suppose means you’re destined to win Puyo matches or something.”

With a dramatic gesture full of purple magic, Klug begins the Puyo Battle, taking a confident stance as well. Last time the Nuisance Puyo got in the way of his perfect 10-chain, but this time he’d win for sure!

An aura of Red Magic surrounded Rulue as the Puyo Battle began.

“So… Your wit versus my might…” A smile formed on her features as she spoke. “We shall see who is the victor once again!”

She may have appeared confident, yet she acknowledged she only got lucky the last round. If the two Puyo she got hadn’t have been blue…

She shook her head to clear the thought. Her goal was clear at that moment. There was no way she would let someone - let alone a studious kid - get the better of her!

“There’s no holding back this round!” she declared confidently.

With large, exaggerated hand movements and flashy space magic, Klug began the game. The Puyos began to drop and Klug had one thing on his mind: building as large a chain as possible to stop Rulue in her tracks. He had to prove his magic was improving!
