Honestly, Tvyek is pretty miraculous. It’s permeable to water vapor but not to water, it’s nearly impossible to tear, but can be easily cut. It’s cheap and made entirely without binding chemicals. In addition to being used for wristbands, it’s used to wrap construction sites to keep out water during construction, for tear-resistant envelopes at Fed-Ex, coveralls for mechanics, and my wallet, actually.
Fun tip, though it looks like paper, Tyvek is plastic, and cannot be recycled with paper.

Man and Boy (NT, 2026)
It is a play about a financier, who used the banking system to swindle his business partners and politicians alike and is coming crashing down in the 1930ies financial crisis, who goes into hiding in his estranged son's apartment in New York.
What follows is a brilliant display of charm and confidence that some people can turn on and off like a switch, of relentless energy, optimism and even more relentless guilt for disappointing and hurting the one person he truly loves. It is fascinating to watch, and both the acting and the text are excellent. What I enjoyed a lot kore then I expected I would is the father-son dynamic: it is often overdone, but not here. Here these two characters play off each other, so different yet so similar. The way they are both so irresistibly charming and charismatic, but in very different ways. They are both passionate, just mostly for different things...
This is a really good play, and the odd thing is, there are no villains in this story, not really, they are all just.. trying to make things better.
8/10, definitely recommend.

Project Hail Mary - Amaze, Amaze, Amaze!
So I am about three months late with all this, but today I finally went to see PHM (there is a cinema right outside my hotel, and I decided that a 7-40am start and non-stop meetings all day meant I deserved an evening by myself doing whatever the hell I please, including not peopling).
I absolutely loved it! It has been a long time since I have seen a sci-fi film that was so kind, humane and hopeful. That did not include an insane amount of military presence, of agression and fear of the other. And it was so fun, and just so full of kindness and sunshine! I loved the text, I LOVED THE ACTING!
Of course, there are questions from the scientific perspective, but you know what? I don't care. Watch me suspend my disbelief and leave the petty details behind: I love how human it was, how unapologetically kind, goofy and sweet.
Ryan Gosling, you did it again! You stole everyone's hearts and if this film does not popularise smart men in soft fabrics and glasses as a type, I don't know what will.
Rocky- the fact that it is a puppet and not cgi is just perfect.
10/10, definitely recommend
Oh, and one more thing: whatever haircut you give Ryan Gosling, he is ginna rock it!
Also, the other two astronauts: they have like 5 lines in total, but omg, they are pure gold!
And the song that Eva Stratt sings!!

It's nice that loud noises don't stick to clothes like smells do. That would be really bad if they did.

I can actually answer this! So the latex/rubber they used, while standard for Hollywood at the time, reacted REALLY BADLY to being doused in pouring water nonstop for an entire day of shooting. They ended up corroding, which caused them to stink really badly and glob together at the seams. The original plan was to hand out masks to various crew members on the final day of shooting as souvenirs, but the sopping wet, melting, rotting rubber got so gross that by the end of that shooting day they’d already thrown most of them out. Somewhere in a landfill are hundreds of disgusting, bloated, slimey Hugo weaving heads fused together into a nightmarish rotting amalgam :)

Mental load
So in the past few weeks (if not to say months) I feel like I am nearing burnout. So far, I am propelling myself mostly by willpower, but the thought of having a few days of doing nothing sounds... amazing. My problem is, this is unlikely to happen any time soon. But maybe it should. Maybe I come back from my work trip and then take a couple of sick days off when everyone is out of the house (no rest is happening here over the weekends, there is always too much to do and not enough time to do it!)
I am going to be away, but I still have a lot of things I need to remind people of. Chores, appointments, what is supposed to happen on which day... So note to self: take a few days to recharge before my body does it for me

Aziraphale: Well, I’m sure I’ve mentioned upstairs has been rather cracking down on miracles of late - and I’ve been practicing that trick, you know the one with the finicky compartments and such- and- well- it’s possible I might have been a tad heavy handed closing it and that he might have got a bit, well…smooshed I suppose.
Crowley: That doesn’t explain why the unfortunate bird is in your fridge.
Aziraphale: Oh don’t give me that look, I couldn’t bear to leave Lazarus like that, and this way he’ll keep until I’m back under quota.
Crowley: Lazarus?
Aziraphale: Well, uh, you see-
Crowley: Angel, just how many times exactly have you killed this poor bastard?
