Hey, sideblog time again.

I felt like I needed a mundane blog for out of character, personal, and Norse related stuff. This is practically replacing my old account, and I’ll probably be more active here than anywhere else.

So yeah, im here.

Feel free to ask semi personal questions, questions about Norse language and mythology, and just whatever you’re curious about

Personal info below

My names Thomas, I’m a Norse nerd and I’m opinionated. Im autistic and Norse mythology and west old Norse culture and language has been my special interest for about 4 years.

I draw sometimes, write sometimes, I have a couple one time hobbies but it’s hard to keep anything consistent.

The snorri-the-door name was just made cause it kinda rhymes, no real meaning.

Bored, tired and hoping to write bilingual dialogue if I ever make any of those things I want to make, so I’m gonna try teaching myself the basics of Old Norse. If you have any suggestions or references for me to use, please send me them.

Hey! Theres actually a lot of ways to pick some stuff up. I’d recommend diversifying between reading the eddas in old Norse, watching Jackson Crawford’s videos on them (especially the stanza by stanza translations) and reading these 3 textbooks

Slowly losing brain cells over pupper-ification of fenrir and the absolute hatred of Odin.

Like Loki, most of y’all’s favorite character, is said to be specifically evil. He is mostly framed negatively throughout the myths. But then you see Odin and recontextualize all his defining traits into a slimy evil child stealing tricky murderous whatnot.

Odin is to me what Loki is to y’all. Just leave the man alone, have some pity on the character that wants his kids to live and banishes explicit evil.

Norse mythology for example

You have Thor's goats, they pull his sled and he can sacrifice them for food and as long as their bones and skins are whole they're back by morning.

So, how would that translate? A couple of dudes who serve thor and sure you can eat them but you sure as hell better not break their bones or thor will kill you.

Would the goats be gods in their own right?

And what does that mean for religion? Are there debates about lion Jesus vs sheep Jesus? Do goats face social stigma in Christian communities?

I try to post here regularly but every time I see something I disagree with i want to eat the person I disagree with, even if they are a friend, which most the time they are or could be.

Last book: I finished Murder in Constantinople by A. E. Goldin yesterday (I don't want to include the reading I've been doing for uni today, so)

Last film: It was probably Watchmen sometime in November

Last series: To no one's surprise, Doctor Who (I watched Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks yesterday)

Sweet or salty: I would prefer the overall taste of something to be salt but if it's part of a dish I would prefer it to be sweet. Upon rereading I realise none of this makes any god damn sense

Coffee or tea: Absolutely not
