Rarely will you see Bobby without a baseball cap

She’s an awful graffiti artist

Bobby will always do some surface-level research on someone online when she meets them.

Bobby is currently renting a ramshackle storefront where she offers repairs, primarily focusing on tech, but she’ll fix a toilet too she doesn’t give a fuck.

Bobby has a short fuse, but she gets over her outbursts pretty quickly.

CHANGES TO SOAPBERRYSPRINGSRPG

Hello Berryites! As tends to happen in groups that have been running for a while, the nature of this game has become more settled; which means your Mods have decided to address this dynamic in an official, permanent, and (hopefully!) long-term fashion.

So here it is: this game is no longer focused on promo or adding new players.  Our established characters have built incredible lives and we believe our Muns have enough motivation & muse to keep on RPing them. Therefore we’ve decided to refashion Soapberry around the roster we currently have, rather than attracting new blood.

What does this mean?

It means that virtually nothing changes for our current Players in the day-to-day of RPing!  People in the game can just keep RPing as much as they want/are able, and we all continue this merry little collective for as long as we feel like writing within this world.    

NOTE: We are NOT ending the game, we’re simply officially shifting focus to be what this game’s already been for the past year or so: a (primarily) closed RP collective.

Okay but -- what is changing?

We no longer have applications. Returning members and new members can just message the main and let us know they’d like to (re)join the group. We’ll post an announcement so Players know a new character has been added to the roster.

New members can ONLY join via word-of-mouth. This means if an established Player knows someone outside of the group who they want to bring into the game, then by all means encourage them to join. The mods will not reject anyone.

Following character tumblrs is optional. Follow who you want, don’t follow who you don’t want.

Feel free to RP with people outside of the Soapberry collective, just please tag accordingly. 

Create as many characters as you like, just please use sideblogs for each separate character. No mumus. Let the main know so we can announce your new character on the main.

No more activity check ins, and no need to message the main about hiatus!  Just let your RP partners know what’s going on. 

If you do choose to leave the collective permanently, please inform us so we can make an announcement on the main. It’s just to let everyone know.

Think of this like a collective of indie blogs who are all RPing within Soapberry lore. You have full agency for whatever you want to do, no need to ask the Mods whether you can do any plots.

The Soapberry Discord will remain open. We still encourage group plots!  We all know each other well enough by now!

That said, there’s no need to stick within Soapberry town limits. Your characters can go where they want and you can AU all you want. 

And of course, please don’t take Soapberry lore and use it to make a new group.  

(The sole exemption to this is the Soapberry Springs Sheriff Department! It’s recommended that the characters who work at the SBSD follow each other, or at least all follow the Department tumblr.)

Welcome one and all to the not-entirely-new but wholly improved Rabbit’s Foot! Previously a densely packed run-down book store, Rabbit’s Foot now has functional windows, no infested piles of books, and a surprising amount of floor space! While some of the front area is still sealed off with plywood, the store opens on the 31st and is having a big opening sale!

Books can still be bought in the store, but that’s hardly the focus - instead, the store is stocked with magical items from various witch suppliers. Magic for the public, is the idea. Find everything from unbreakable glass tupperware to good fortune candles, travel mugs which never let your coffee grow cold, healing amethysts and premade spells for household tasks to shifting paintings, enchanted books, and empowered jewellery.

And of course, Ciara takes custom orders from the front desk.

(I’ve included a list of more ideas under the cut, but I think you get the gist, feel free to improv as well.)

On opening weekend:

This is an event! We’ll be character-event page discord for the weekend of the 31st to the 2nd! Additionally, feel free to write threads using any of this as a jump start. 

Valentine’s is coming soon, so a deal on jewellery, magic chocolates and wines, and romantic spells are available - the kind which make you just brave enough to ask that cutie for a date, or help you feel a little more flexible in the evening. (Won’t alter consent or desires.)

That magic chocolate and wine? Little tasters are available, with little sparks of magic that might put you in the mood for singing, dancing, chatting, or playing games of truth or dare.

Many of the books which used to be stocked in store are available out front, on a 3 for $10s deal. These might be anything from “How to grow your own wolfsbane” to “the invisible book of invisibility” to “updating your fashion to the 21st century”

A couple of Ciara’s acquaintances and friends have shown up to town, including Margot, the necromancer who wears dried intestines as clothes, Gus the mouthy 60s vibe vampire, and a strange figure with a cloak covering most of their face - if you peak underneath, you may just notice that they have no mouth. Or nose. Or eyes.

What how much younger or older can the character be compared to the face claim? 5-7 years?

As Soapberry Springs is home to a number of long-lived species, this is entirely dependent on whether your character is one of those species or not!

In general -- going on if the species ages normally, or counting from the age of their vampire creation or nymph embodiment or such -- we do recommend keeping your character within 5 years on either side of your face claim.

I have a small question. How does a witch gain their powers. Is it around puberty or can they get it in their early twenties so long something triggers them like in Charmed. If not can say the parent of that witch suppress their magic through potions or magic spells?

A witch’s powers tend to kick in around puberty; however, depending on the witch’s particular lineage and raising, it can happen sooner or later than that. A witch from a strong coven who’s born into a magical life might manifest their (usually her, as female-bodied witches are stronger) magic quite young. It’s not something triggered per se as it’s a natural development of their physiognomy (sorry, never watched Charmed lol so can’t speak to that reference).

As for the second part of your question, that’s more specific, so it’s best if you message the main so we can discuss it in more detail!  :)

Five headcanons about your character:

Headcanon #1 Analiese has often gone by the name Rose throughout the years her name never felt like it belonged to her since becoming a vampire. Upon moving to Soapberry she has told some to call her Rose and others to call her Ana. In her attempts to switch back to her true name she can’t help but slip back into the habit of calling herself Rose.

Headcanon #2 Analiese was born in the countryside of the south of France as a witch. She lived with her older brother, mother, and father. Together they often made little charms and healing ointments to sell in the marketplace. Her mother is who taught her all she knows and is the reason she was able to open her apothecary.

Headcanon #3 Analiese can often be found barefoot exploring the forests. She enjoys wearing long dresses and often puts flowers in her hair. Her mother used to dress in the same way and it reminds her of home. She’s never been a big fan of technology and does whatever she can to avoid it.

Headcanon #4 Analiese is fluent in French, Italian, Spanish, and English though she doesn’t speak much. As a child she was fun loving and extroverted but after being turned into a vampire and sent away by her father she become more withdrawn. She hates who she is and can’t imagine anyone else accepting her.

Headcanon #5 She longs for a family but refuses to ever get her hopes up of finding one. She spent some time with those who turned her just to learn how to survive but knowing they turned her only to get revenge on her father she couldn’t stay with them.

When she was first turned she was devastated about losing her magic and searched for some kind of cure but being unable to find anything to help and too afraid to try to kill herself she decided to move to Soapberry in an attempt to find peace and perhaps have some kind of life where she isn’t always alone.

Hi thanks for your ask and sorry for the wait!  As a mod I might be biased answering this but I believe our Players are always enthused to interact with new characters and make new Players feel welcome.  New characters = new plots, new ideas, new excitement!

Can merms learn to shift to human form and vice versa since birth or they must wait until puberty like werewolves?

Shifting out of finned form is a conscious, learned skill for merms – it’s a developmental milestone, so not all merms come to it at the same age. It also depends on how they’re raised and how early they’re taught to shift. It’s not an instinctive thing, and not uncontrolled; it requires a focused effort, and if a merm uses the skill often it doesn’t take much thought.

Event:  Winter Fest!

Cross the bridge into Elemanzer, which has been glamoured and decorated to look like a winter wonderland.  Snowy scenes with lights and stars bedeck the tall trees and treehouses up above.  Even if it’s pouring rain in the rest of Soapberry, it’s a permanent fluffy (not slushy) snowy wonderland in Elemanzer.

Each treehouse is also themed in different ways over two weeks of December, giving visitors and opportunity to experience some fun activities:

Skating tree: one treehouse has turned into a beautiful skating rink! Roofless so it seems like you’re ice skating in the sky.

Dancing tree: one treehouse has different dances each day/evening:  disco, waltzes, jigs, jives and more.  Partner up and have some fun!

Naked tree: ‘nuff said.  A very warm, dimly lit, sensory treehouse. Sponsored by the Peck Beach Aficionados.

Ski tree: Take a ride rope to the top of this old gigantic tree, and then ski or snowboard all the way down its huge trunk.  Conveniently located next to the:

Cozy lodge tree: A treehouse full of everything to keep warm and cuddly.  Huge squashy cushions, a roaring fireplace, a hot chocolate fountain, kegs of hot mulled wine, and fondue options.  Magical merino scarves and blankets available (all magically cleaned after use).

Sleigh rides: what’s a snowy wonderland without sleighrides?  Hop on a sleighride around the Elemanzer grounds, driven by lively reindeer - just be warned, there’s no guarantee where the reindeer will take you.

Victorian Ball: Since Christmas was honed into the well-oiled consumerist machine it is today thanks to the Victorians, the fest will culminate in a Victorian-style ball at the end of the season.  Historical accuracy not necessary, but the ball is a fancy-dress, inviting attendees to dress up for the night of dancing and making merry.
