It’s gotten dark.

When you set out for a walk in the woods, you weren’t prepared to stay out this long. You step out into an open area and look around with relief at the familiar surroundings. It’s a half-hour walk home. Letting your guard down, delighted at the prospect of getting home soon, you stride briskly through the snowdrifts without watching your step.

One step. You stumble... a muffled rasp behind you. You can’t make out anything in the darkness, but it seems like something is moving...

You turn on your flashlight.
