in our last moments before the trailer i want predict that there will be no murph this season BUT we will get lou, angela giarratana (of smosh & star kid fame), erika, vic, jasper william cartwright, one of the critical role people who i don’t know.
chat, is this alien campaign? be honest
how i’m feeling at the moment
What NADDPOD Campaign you should listen to based on your favorite Bad Kid
• Gorgug Thistlespring
- If you like
a confounding but also charming amount of in-game singing
one liners that *almost* land
being a little cunty while you save the world (but saving the world nonetheless)
Then you should listen to Bahumia Campaign 1 DMed by Brian Murphy. 100 total episodes. The very beginning and easiest place to start.
• Fig Faeth
- If you like:
emily axford making out with people for the bit
begrudgingly allowing your mom to be a complex person
fake names that simultaneously get better and worse as the campaign goes on
You should listen to Campaign 3 (aka Bahumia Campaign 2) ((aka Ba2umia)) DMed by Brian Murphy. Currently at 64 episodes with new episodes posted every other week. Listening to Campaign 1 first isn’t necessary, but highly recommended so you can catch all the goofs and references.
• Kristen Applebees
- If you like:
totally inparceable pop culture references
being gay in ways that few can even comprehend and fewer can emulate
simulacrum antics
You need to listen to Trinyvale. DMed by Caldwell Tanner with 22 main episodes and a handful of semi-canon follow up episodes. Takes place in its own universe (for the most part) No previous NADDPOD knowledge or listening necessary.
• Riz Gukgak
- If you like:
being somewhere between a grizzled 80 year old man and a spunky teen detective
brian murphy loudly wondering ‘why am i the only one here with my shit together?’
a firm belief that coffee is part of a good bed time routine
You should listen to Twilight Sanctorum DMed by Emily Axford. A mini campaign with 4 total episodes that *technically* takes place within the world of Bahumia, but there is no crossover into main campaigns. No prior listening necessary!
• Adaine Abernant
- If you like:
being the smartest person in the room who just so happens to have the highest kill count.
when getting a party member un-cursed is honestly like 5th on the to do list.
characters looking you dead in the eye and saying ‘I simply must kill my mom’
You should really listen to Campaign 2 aka Eldermourne, DMed by Brian Murphy. 41 total episodes that includes multiple intertwining parties— including a 6 episode arc with Lou Wilson. Entirely separate from other campaigns & no previous listening required.
• Fabian Seacaster
- If you like:
every joke zac oyama makes
when characters freak the fuck out (a la sexy rat™️)
having daddy issues so severe it’s in the DSM5
Then you should listen to The Mavrus Chronicles aka Hot Boy Summer. DMed by Emily Axford there are 7 free, main episodes with other spin-off episodes available on patreon (The Blazing Babe saga!) Serves as a prequel to a character first introduced in Campaign 1 but it can definitely be listened to on its own.
kenna we WILL reunite you with your little girlfriend. do not fear emily axford and her gaggle of straight men will make sure you get to kiss a girl
wait brennan and izzy actually have a very sweet love story oh my god
Adventuring Academy: Out of Context
Endless NSBU
jacob wysocki in a high fantasy side quest WHEN??
what from this episode of nsbu was prepped ahead of time and what was improv? i HAVE to know if the kinky spies and the back flipping 30 year olds were even a little prepped or was this all brennan having fun?
i love DMing because each week after our session i get to go play dolls in my head for a couple hours while i prep for next week
they finally found the dead body full of clues. playing dolls in my head again
brennan refusing to engage in the ‘slut dad discourse’ is just murph refusing to leer at the neverafter mini’s 2.0
i love DMing because each week after our session i get to go play dolls in my head for a couple hours while i prep for next week
to be so honest, 9 out of 10 complaints about Dropout properties loop back to people not understanding how production and scheduling work.
seasons of each show are shot over the course of weeks ( most likely with exceptions for convoluted shoots like game changer ). in most cases, multiple episodes are shot per day. things may be shot a year or more before release. on top of that, cast members are not full time staff— they are freelance performers with other obligations.
imagine coordinating with 3-7 performers to find time and shoot day that works for everyone when some of your talent works in NYC, runs another wildly successful dnd podcast, or writes for multiple tv shows. there’s a reason production companies like Dropout have casting directors and production coordinators. wrangling and scheduling people is truly a full time job!
now imagine scheduling these people AGAIN a year after they’ve filmed to have a talk back Q&A with fan submitted questions. it just doesn’t work logistically.
You’re a piece of work, kid.
