It was not the first time they'd ended up like this.
Both of them a bit tipsy, hanging off opposite edges of one of their beds, staring off into the distance and contemplating life's greatest mysteries.
But it was the first time that Sirius had spoken this particular thought aloud:
"D'you ever wonder what it'd be like to kiss a bloke?"
James sat up so quickly he almost fell over onto the floor. "What?"
Sirius sat up as well, squinting a little with the haze of alcohol in his system. "Y'know. Kissing. A bloke. For like...science, or whatever."
The taller boy's eyes went huge. "Hm. That's a good question. Wonder what it'd be like."
They stared at each other for a while longer. As they did, Sirius noticed that James had very nice eyes. And nice hair. And wow, his lips were nice, too. "It might be good. To try."
"Hm." James nodded vehemently, looking like he'd been hit over the head. "Yeah. Hey, did you ever notice, you have a nice face?"
Sirius couldn't help but grin. "Yeah? Thanks, mate."
"Yeah, your hair is all shiny. And you know? You smell nice."
Something warm flooded Sirius's body. "Yeah?"
They were close, now. When had they gotten so close? They'd been close like this before, yes, but now it felt different. Sharing a space, sharing air. They spent several long seconds like that, just staring at each other.
Wow, James's eyes were like, really nice.
"For Godric's sake, kiss already!" Peter yelled, making both of them jump and look over to where the smaller boy was sitting.Β
"Pete...what the fuck?" Sirius asked weakly. He'd quite forgotten that the room wasn't empty.
Peter blushed. "Sorry. S'just...it was quite obvious that's where that was headed, right? Just get it over with so we can all move on."
He glanced back to James, who was now smirking. "He's got a point. Can't back down now, can we, Pads?"
He grinned, adrenaline beginning to course through his body. "No. Can't do that."
When their lips connected, he wanted to scream with how intense, how good, how right it felt.
