Why having an ambassador strategy is important to reach Millennials
In social media marketing one very important goal is to get other people to share your content. When your own audience is small, you depend on others to help you reach a larger audience by putting your content in front of their audience. This is one of the main reasons organisations decide to set up ambassador programs or work with brand advocates.
However, brand advocacy programs are not only a way to have a greater reach, but they are also essential to gain the trust of a generation that doesn’t trust anything except the people they know, like Millennials. According to studies, 84 percent of Millennials don’t like traditional advertising nor do they trust it. Knowing this, you should take every effort you can to build brand relationships with them. The biggest changes evolve around creating a campaign. For instance, we have changed the order of the setup of campaigns so that it reflects the order of the campaigns.
Why not reward your internal ambassadors?
You can’t force your employees to share your stories on social media. They either will or they won’t. It’s their choice. However, you can encourage them to be active. One way is to recognize or reward those employees that are your greatest ambassadors. Research shows that feeling appreciated - which comes from recognition from other - is one of the top three drivers of employee engagement. The best news is that showing appreciation doesn’t have to cost a lot of time or money.
If you think incentivizing is a good idea - trust us, it is - we recommend that you do not solely reward your top seeders after a (set of) campaigns, but that you also give anyone who shared your content an opportunity to be rewarded from time to time. It will help you campaigns a great deal if you tell employees in advance that anyone who shares them has a chance to “win” something or to be rewarded in some way. To give you some ideas to get started, we’ve identified 5 ways to reward top seeders and 5 great incentives for anyone who shares your stories online:
