1X01 "Apéritif"
Hi I read your Ramirez post, what is it about him that draws your attention? I feel really weird when I say he's my "favourite" serial killer. I don't defend him on his actions, he did all that and needed to be stopped. But sometimes when the government fucks up, his quote about the gov is doing what he did on a large scale just pops in my head. I always wanted to know why he married Doreen. Did he want material/ monetary support from whoever? Or did Doreen show him generosity when no one did?
Let me start off by saying, no one should be your "favorite" serial killer. We are talking about actual human beings. People with same experiences as you me. Difference? They are SERIAL KILLERS. They have murdered, r*ped, dehumanized people and have brought horror to people's life. This are not people you need to have a "favorite" because they are families out there that are in pain because of this people's horrific actions.
Now going to your questions.
What "draws" me is just pure curiosity and understanding his actions. It's really simple. And of course I do agree with his "quote", but it's something people back in the 80's where very close minded to, and our generation or this generation has a better understanding how U.S government (or any for that matter) really works. He was a mentally ill, latino with an abusive upbringing in the 80's, he knew already how the government and society view him at a very young age.
He had many girls fawning over him so why choose Doreen? Could it be money? Could be him wanting someone to control over, maybe she was easily manipulated? Loneliness? We'll never know, he was a very unpredictable individual. I wish I could give you a straight answer, I wish I knew it myself.
MINDHUNTER (2017-2019) season 1, episode 10
Okay. So lots of controversy on Netflix’s Dahmer and I’m here to explain why it isn’t what you probably think it is. This show is no doubt a grab the attention of the massive true crime viewership, and is bringing attention to a monstrous man who did awful things but hear me out… It is a horror through and through it is not pretty it is not romanticized and if you feel that way you may be attracted to Evan Peters. Who gives an absolutely bone chilling performance as Dahmer he makes you feel more uncomfortable and anxious with each scene as well as a so much hatred building with each victim he takes. Everything in this show is oriented against the glorification of Dahmer. It makes those who adore him look unbelievably ignorant, I doubt someone who was a Dahmer fangirl would still be after watching this, if they are then that is very very concerning. I have yet to see such a gruesome unforgivingly graphic depiction of a serial killer and after seeing this its impossible to unsee. But as horror narrative, writing, cinematography, and pacing goes it is incredible and worth a watch in that regard. I wouldn’t even put this anywhere near any other serial killer biography there was no skip of the bad parts it was the raw disgusting truth both visually and audiably. The way this show makes your heart break for the victim’s and their families it was insanely intense I almost cried a couple times. Over and over again the script reinforces the fact that the main focus of this case should have always been on the victims even through subtle means the overtone of the entire show is that way. This is really the tip of the iceberg of what I wanted to say there is more to it than this but I’m tired so peace.
people being SJWs on here for attention over the Dahmer series trying to act like it somehow sugarcoats the case or paints the cops in a positive light. like shut up, it literally does not portray the cops as in the right, it does not sugarcoat the Dahmer case, it does not excuse Dahmer’s actions. it does spend time with the victims, it does humanize the victims, it does make us see through their eyes. that was the entire point of the series. stop being a bunch of sensitive crybabies just because y’all want to feel mad about something 24/7. good grief. the series was very well made, well acted, well written, and respectful. if you don’t fucking like it, don’t fucking watch it. it’s really that simple. the case is part of history, one of the most famous serial killer cases ever, so it isn’t shocking that film adaptations of it exist.
Jesus.
Humans with empathy: So some of the family members of the victims of Dahmer have stated that they’re uncomfortable with the series and find the whole process re-traumatizing.
True Crime Stans: Quit being such antis, here’s a fanvid.
You have to get that there’s a huge difference between liking Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream and stanning and thirsting over a real serial killer whose reign of terror was aided and abetted by racism and homophobia.
With the new Jeffrey Dahmer show, i want everyone to remember this new series is to understand the victims p.o.v, we are looking through the eyes of what they went through and how badly the justice system failed each and one of them.
As a part of the true crime community, we should not romanticize in any way Dahmer’s behavior. We can just simply understand why he committed such wicked, monstrous, acts. But this man deserves no sympathy. Be glad he is dead, and I count blessings each day because he is no longer with us.
Sebastian Burns and Atif Rafay were Canadian teenagers wrongfully convicted of the triple homicide of Rafay’s family. The main piece of evidence against them was a false confession that was extracted by police using a technique that is now illegal. There was no DNA evidence against them. There was solid information and evidence that proved their innocence but the police ignored it and never followed other leads. They are sitting in jail to this day.

James Warren Jones was missing one of the classic symptoms of BPD, self-injurious behavior. Jim Jones wasn't a cutter, nor did he burn himself, or deliberately overdose... all key traits of his personality indicate Jim Jones was a psychopathic narcissist. My question: Have you ever visited the Museum of Death in Hollywood, California?
Thank for this!!
Sadly no, is my dream to though.

Jim Jones and Borderline Personality Disorder
This post is only speculative as you can’t diagnose someone post-mortem.
From nimh.nih.gov : Borderline personality disorder is a mental illness marked by an ongoing pattern of varying moods, self-image, and behavior. These symptoms often result in impulsive actions and problems in relationships. People with borderline personality disorder may experience intense episodes of anger, depression, and anxiety that can last from a few hours to days.
Symptoms fitting Jim’s behavior:
An intense fear of abandonment, even going to extreme measures to avoid real or imagined separation or rejection: That’s basically the core of his relationship with Marceline, looking up to her and seeing her as a mother figure, then threatening her and the children when she wanted to leave him. Same for Peoples Temple members, threatening them or begging them when they wanted to leave the Temple. From Raven : “He not only kept seeing Carolyn as a mistress; he chipped away at Marceline’s standing, alternately praising her and running her down in front of the children and church members. In his frustration and guilt over his affair, he would throw angry fits and become so hostile that she threatened again to leave; then he would beg her to stay, telling her she was the only one he loved. Sometimes he threatened to harm her and the children if they deserted him.”
Impulsive and often dangerous behaviors, such as spending sprees, unsafe sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, and binge eating : We can check everything but spending sprees and maybe reckless driving (even though his drugs and alcohol abuse + his love of driving can’t be a good combination). If you listen to some of his sermons, he talked about the eating part a few times. “He begins taking amphetamines (in 1971) so that he can stay awake longer. He’s working 20-hour days, even more sometimes. And then because the paranoia is set off by that drug because they make you so edgy, he has to start taking pills so he can go to sleep. And he’s a man of excess. He’ll take double the dosage to get up and he’ll take triple the dosage to sleep to the point where sometimes he starts nodding out. And any drug addict - and Jones was a drug addict - will develop even more acute paranoia.” - Jeff Guinn
Recurring thoughts of suicidal behaviors or threats : Thoughts of suicides started quite early in his childhood to continue later in life.
Intense and highly changeable moods, with each episode lasting from a few hours to a few days : Happened quite often, hard to pinpoint to a specific example though.
Chronic feelings of emptiness : “He was into power, sex, food, drugs. Whatever he needed to fill that hole, he was using it.” - Stephan Jones
Inappropriate, intense anger, such as frequently losing your temper, being sarcastic or bitter, or having physical fights : There’s a few examples out there about episodes of intense anger close to going physical toward some members, only stopped by his guards restraining him.
Periods of stress-related paranoia and loss of contact with reality, lasting from a few minutes to a few hours + Difficulty trusting, which is sometimes accompanied by irrational fear of other people’s intentions : Again, hard to pinpoint to a specific example, but something recurring would be him being persuaded that people, more often than not his own, wanted to see him dead. From Snake Dance by Laurie Efrein Kahalas, example of an extreme reaction over a non-threatening note slipped under his door :
