Also really enjoyed the introduction of the theme of hope this week, and how it’s a double-edged sword. LOVED Percy interacting with hope as a thing that disappoints and brings about destruction, and the introduction of his worry that he is too human and not demigod enough. This is a striking juxtaposition to Annabeth’s feelings of being too demigod/not human enough. And then we have Percy telling her that her hope for overcoming the sirens and getting her mother’s attention was both very human and very understandable… all of this is going to make the fact that Annabeth makes the most human choice of all—a choice to have hope in a person who has continuously disappointed her, a choice which Percy for so long just cannot understand—that much more impactful and beautiful.
So like does Annabeth even want to be an architect anymore or…???
Obsessed with the whole notion of “human choices” that the show is raising and how Annabeth sees them as a weakness, as something that causes death and destruction for her friends… the girl who despite her best efforts and sincerest yearning just cannot connect with the mortal world, cannot just be a human kid even though she admires that so deeply in Percy, she still can’t rid herself of these glimmers of humanity… the glimmers that send her looking for a cereal prize bracelet, she worries that she won’t be able to override them and that her *human* choices could ultimately lead to Percy’s downfall, which is why it is going to hit so unimaginably hard when we see that actually she is what ties Percy to his own humanity. She is the glimmer that keeps him tied to his own mortality and that inspires him to push for survival—in the River Styx, on Olympus when offered godhood and even in the midst of Tartarus. She keeps him safe BECAUSE she makes human choices, because she reminds him of the beauties of being wonderfully, woefully human.
THE GIRL WHO IS SCARED OF MAKING HUMAN CHOICES IS GOING TO BE THE REASON HE CHOOSES TO BE HUMAN

McGee, Vance and Palmer when they see that Tony and Ziva are wanted by Interpol and are flashing their NCIS badges:
You can detox from social media and still use tumblr the same way some people can be sober and still smoke weed you just have to use it therapeutically

Thinking about how the show has been appropriately modernized thus far and how kids don’t really print pictures out very often these days, so I’m going on record now that I will accept Percy having set the picture of Annabeth (arms crossed, expression proud as if she designed the Lincoln Memorial herself) as his Chromebook/school laptop background and that’s what Matt Sloan and his laistrygonian cronies see and roast Percy for… then they can’t tear the photo and make spitballs out of it, but I’d rather have this than nothing 🙏
The way they’re holding back the first “seaweed brain” like it’s a bass drop bc they know it is going to irreparably alter all of our brains forever
WE HAVE OFFICIALLY ENTERED ASB EVERYONE !!!!!!!!

The way Percy is going to go from “I chose her because I couldn’t imagine we’d ever be friends” to “the world was crumbling around me and the only thing that mattered was that she was alive” and choosing to fall into Tartarus for her, from “I don’t know what to think or who to trust” to trusting Annabeth to know where his Achilles spot is… oh I am FERAL rn
For the first time since the 1948 Nakba, there was no Christmas tree lighting outside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Palestine.
In its place, an installation depicting the nativity scene is placed as if it were taking place in Gaza today. This is done in support of the people of Gaza who have been facing a harrowing Israeli aggression for the past 80 days, an aggression so catastrophic that it lead to cancelling Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem this year.
With the nativity models placed amid rubble and barbed wire, the star of Bethlehem is represented by the aftermath of a bomb hitting their shelter. The scene replicates those following Israeli shelling of civilian homes in Gaza.
Details of the "Birth Under Rubble" installation here.
