DIY Lilly Pulitzer/Vineyard Vines Binder Covers
Hi guys! So, Iâve had a ton of asks requesting me to make a post on my DIY Binder Covers that were pictured in my last post.
I will start off by saying that I found this fabulous pin on pinterest that led me to create these adorable little guys! But, for your sake, Iâm making this step-by-step post on how you can make and customize your own Lilly Pulitizer/Vineyard Vines binder cover!
Step One: Pick Your Design
Simply search Google for your favorite Lilly Pulitzer pattern! When youâve found it, copy the image.
Step Two: Open Microsoft Word
Now that youâve picked out your pattern, switch over to Microsoft Word. Then, right-click and hit paste to transfer your image onto the blank page. Once your pattern is on the screen, hover over the image and right click. Scroll down and hit wrap text, selecting the âtightâ option. Now you can move your patten wherever you want and stretch it out to cover the entire page! .
Step Three: Create a Textbox
Now that you have your pattern fit to the entire page (and donât worry if it looked a little disproportionate- it wonât look like that when it prints!), you can add a textbox so you can enter your course title.
Hit the âinsert tab.â Now look to your right and find the âtext boxâ option. Hit that button and select âdraw text box.â To save room for the Vineyard Vine whale, draw your box a little pass half way and drag it down. Once you draw your box, a âdrawing tools/formatâ tab will pop up automatically. Here, you can fill in the text box, add a decorative border, or add special effects to the box.
This is pretty self explanatory! There are tons of cute fonts to choose from to match the âLilly Pulitzerâ style. I chose âLucida Handwritingâ for my font; it seemed to be the perfect cursive! Depending on how you want your text positioned you may need to add space on the bottom or top of the box to get the text in the center. You can do this by highlighting your text, right-clicking on the âNormalâ style box, and hitting modify. Once the little editing box pops up, click on either the button with both arrows pointing together (to move text up) or the one with arrows pointing away from one another (to move text down).
Step Five: Search for the Vineyard Vines Whale
Now, head back to Google and search for âVineyard Vines Whale.â Since you only want the whale and not a white background, it may be pretty hard to find just the outline. So, here a link to the perfect whale. :) Once you get your whale, copy and paste it onto your binder cover right above your text box. You will need to change the formatting to tight again. Then youâre done! There are so many variations you can apply! You can change the color of the whale, like I did here:
or just keep its regular color of pink. Now youâre ready to print! Be sure, however, to check the print preview before printing to make sure your text isnât being cut off.
Let me know how yourâs turn out! Happy back-to-school season!
