A bit more info:
Noah's divorced from Emma - they were together 3 years before they had Mk, who ended up staying with Emma (writing this out feels so weird i can't imagine this is interesting but i need this for lore reasons). I'd say they were both chill but Noah highkey fell into a depressive spiral without her and the only thing that he had going for him was his profession.
Single, as he's still not over his wife. Mk visits, purely because she likes to now that she's old enough to go by herself and Emma doesn't mind - despite being raised mostly in his abscence Mk is strangly similar to Noah in personality (and, luckily, love for gaming). To her, he's more of a cool uncle than a dad!
Noah's fairly close to his family - though it's quite large and very interwoven, so any family event is a BIG one. He doesn't realise, but they've been trying to give him a bit more space ever since his divorce.
Alejandro is a poor soul who never truly shook off ties to his parents even in adulthood - he lives by himself and travels abroad frequently to pursue education and on paleontology excursions, but he can be sure of a phone call from his parents every other evening.
In fact, the reason he has short hair in this AU is because he had to cut it down to something "family approved" in time for the 60th anniversary of his parent's marriage!
Also, he's single. After TD ended in season 3!!! Heather reached out to him, and they dated for 5 years (they'd break it off, only to start dating again a month later MULTIPLE times), and even got engaged, before finally leaving each other once and for all. After that, Alejandro had *tried* dating other people (it wasn't hard to get dates, being the person he is), but nobody ever stuck around, and he kinda gave up aka Focused on his Profession (much to the chagrin of his parents)
