I've been writing fanfiction since the '90s. While I do post in-progress snippets of fanfiction I am writing here (you can check the "my writing" tag for that) the main place to read my written work is on AO3.
In case of shenanigans here is the address: https://archiveofourown.org/users/SofiaDragon/works
I use my bookmarks as a collection of stories I have read and enjoyed enough not to lose. I also use the Recommended Stories feature, so if you want to see a list of fantastic stories, you can utilize the filter or just click here.
I reblog a lot of things that catch my attention, but mostly fandom stuff and current events. There are a lot of different fandoms I am interested in, and sometimes I'll go back to the stories that first got me interested in writing. From ACD's Sherlock Holmes and Star Trek to the latest MCU movie and Spy X Family or even Eminence in Shadow - I like a wide range of story types so long as the characters are well crafted. Give me someone who seems so real they can walk right off the page or a setting I can sink into, and I'm happy. If you like that sort of thing, pull up a chair and stay a while.
I do not blog about charity for spiritual reasons. That I do not reblog posts or answer asks about charity means nothing about what I do or do not support offline.
More personal stuff about who I am under the cut!
Autistic spectrum cis female demi-aromantic. US American, social-democrat, has been overseas but not as much as I'd like. Can vaguely understand tourist Japanese and Spanish with context to help, but only fluent in English.
I put a lot of worldbuilding in my writing with a dash of humor and dramatic irony. In IRL conversation I'm sarcastic and enjoy ethical and political debates - and I have the privilege of coming from a family where we don't take those disagreements personally and will happily "devil's advocate" a position just to prolong the discussion if the conversation is productive in finding the flaws in the political ideas we support. Especially on the internet, hot intellectual debate of serious issues without catching feelings is a rare commodity.
I studied world religion, psychology, and creative writing as an Early Childhood Education major for my first round in college. Then I had to go make money due to a family calamity, so I swapped to Small Business Management and learned about economics, politics, teaching adults, and bookkeeping. Eventually, I took a job at a small chocolate shop and learned how to make gourmet chocolates, because the high stress and long hours of my management job was actually killing me due to chronic medical issues.
I believe that most of the fan criticisms of series and movies come from a place of love, since we wouldn't care so much if we weren't invested. You will see posts tagged "critical" or "criticism" related to fandoms that I adore. That thing I said about intellectual debates? It absolutely applies here.
I also tag political posts. If you don't want to see commentary on real life drama when browsing please filter your tumblr - I highly recommend a side blog with "#politics" blocked if you don't like seeing that stuff when you are in fun fandom mode generally. Curate your experience.
I've had some mental health struggles related to my poor physical health (chronic illness sucks) and fertility problems stemming from a hormone imbalance caused by working in an office where my boss used testosterone cream irresponsibly, don't try me on gender dysphoria it isn't a trigger it's waving a flag in front a bull. I will give you the horns. I'm very strong on trans/genderqueer issues partly because I have experienced the distress of my body doing masculine things like growing a full beard against my will and partly because I have a cousin more than 20 years older than me who transitioned when I was a kid and is one of the most actualized and happy people I've ever known.
Nobody should be forced to use their body or perform their life in a certain way for the benefit of other people contrary to their nature or will. This also includes medical privacy and legalizing [while responsibly regulating] most drugs. You will see this theme in some of my stories and it colors all of them in the sense that my idea of what is morally correct includes that kind of freedom.
A scene that keeps coming back no matter how I dismiss it:
What if Xeno came to Japan instead of the other way around?
Now this idea floats in my head without a good reason for it happening, but for any reason Xeno is coming looking for Senku or maybe 💜👑 looking for Gen and arrives during the Stone Wars before Gen, Chrome, and Magma leave to deliver the radio. He's basically beelined his way there, with Stan... well, Stanley is incapable telling Xeno no, but this one's been stressful enough he thought about it for half a second while the ship was being built.
And the ship's sinking when they make radio contact.
It's hubris. Xeno knows how to make things and so does Brody, but the sea is unforgiving. A humpback whale gets irritated by their fishing net, or maybe orcas object to them trying to opportunisticly snatch some of the tuna they are hunting. Minor damage, they can take it. A bad storm dumps more water on them than their bilge pump was designed for. The shape of the boat isn't ideal and they go through metal fast patching up damage. Xeno knows to use gunmetal bronze and sacrificial zinc tabs to avoid corrosion, but boat design is not the same as dealing with aerospace engineering. He could make a little boat to skirt the coast built mostly for use on a river, but crossing an ocean with all the supply and seed stock to ensure they weren't reliant on foraging if nobody's home is different.
There are small miscalculations and while he's fine with iteration - that's the scientific process - the crew isn't holding up now that Stanley's out of his area of expertise and they don't have a strong unifying goal like getting their kidnapped leader back. These are marines, not navy seamen, they don’t have anyone like Ryusui or Ukyo with experience sailing a craft on the open ocean. They have to take the longer route because rediscovering a sunstone's use is not something they would think to do. Damage happens and Xeno seems to be having fun with recycling broken bits into solutions, but this is not like Stanley stealing the Perseus and it's plans to follow the coast. Poor morale means slacking on maintenance means a snowball of small inconveniences until they are limping toward Japan and there is one last winter storm blowing down out of Siberia. (The source of the fresh looking snow all over when Senku & co run to catch Homura while the team leave with the radio.)
Leo contacts Gen and Senku on the radio, Xeno is ecstatic. They hit a rock, just to solidify that the universe thought this was a bad idea, and the villagers paddle out to rescue and salvage what they can with the wind howling.
I have a very specific and very vivid scene in my head of Xeno with his leg under a pile of boxes that fell as the sinking ship tilted, seeing Senku for the first time when our protagonist uses a combination of Magma's muscles and some lever or pulley action to free him. Properly broken bone, should not have gone back for [probably the platinum.]
I'd like to say I broke his leg so he can't cause too much trouble, but... nah that scene of Senku using leverage to get a panicking Xeno free came first and the rest was just making it make sense.
Feel free to reblog as usual if tou like I kind of want to see how bad it is for collaborative posts.
Xeno: Stanley and his team can just take this Neanderthal out right now, why risk sending your men behind enemy lines?
Senku: I was planning to build a tank while broadcasting propaganda to sow dissent and create an opening so that Tsukasa’s power isn't absolute, maybe cause a revolution.
Gen: We'd have a lot of unnecessary trouble if we don't break their spirits and shake their confidence in Tsukasa’s leadership before we attack.
Xeno: A tank? Say less.
Brody: I like these kids. Where's the blueprints?
Stanley: I could use the intel your agents have collected. *tobacco exhale* No sense wasting limited ammunition if I only need one bullet.
I simply think that it would be fun if Rocky got back to Erid and started lying cause a.) he will not tolerate anything but THE BEST for Grace, and will do everything to make sure he’s taken care of b.) he’s worried that if he expresses his actual desires to his own fellow Eridians, they would be so ‘alien’ that he would either not be taken seriously or seen as crazy, and that everything (grace) will be taken away from him. c.) he just spent so long alone in space and if anyone makes him be alone (be without grace) again, he’s taking himself and everyone out with him.
Idk. Let that rock make some bad choices <3 bc he’s scared and traumatized
I love the idea of Rocky building the xenonite suit a few months after they get to Erid and going up to visit Grace in orbit as a surprise and he goes through this awful perpetually guilty scary triggering learning curve of figuring out how much strength he can safely use on which parts of the ship and Grace, and he's constantly apologising and hovering when he accidentally presses too hard, and all through this Grace (touch-starved, delirious, suffering zoochosis, dangerously understimulated), is trying to find a way to ask if Rocky can break a few of his bones without being put on alien suicide watch.

‼️ Au was created before season 2 and ignoring everything it revealed whatsoever ‼️
Or maybe not everything, but still.
In this AU Alastor never disappeared, he's at his full power and helps the Hotel because he's bored. But who knows, maybe he has some scheme going on after all...
After the overlord meeting Alastor and Rosie captured Velvette and ate her for fun :)
AU inspired by Velvette's line in Respectless "I could eat you all for breakfast"... said in front of 2 real cannibals (Alastor and Rosie of course). They took it personal.
Every time an author reassures readers that the smut is skippable I sigh a disappointed sigh. This is not a reassurance. Why would anybody who likes smut want to read smut that was only included as an afterthought and has no impact on the narrative? Insulting. Just don't write it at all if you're not going to make it matter.
I like smut the best when the plot is integral to the smut and the smut is integral to the plot. The two hold each other up. What is more intimate and exposing? Why shouldn't there be plot in there?
